The primary focus of this position is to take ownership of, and assist with, transaction execution within our Corporate Finance Investment Banking business unit. The Associate role requires a broad based understanding and knowledge of corporate finance (M&A; and capital markets), business valuation, and development of marketing skills. Specific analytical tasks may include: historical and pro forma client company financial analysis; public company peer group market analysis; merger and acquisition market peer group analysis; discounted cash flow analysis; LBO modeling and analysis; capital structuring and cash flow modeling; industry research and analysis; report writing; presentation preparation; and other such analysis as deemed relevant related to project and transaction execution. The duties will also include due diligence review of client information, communication and clarification with clients regarding due diligence material, participation in management interviews with clients and other advisors associated with the client. In addition, the Associate will be involved in corporate marketing activities including pitch book and proposal development, prospect company research and due diligence investigation, relevant financial and economic research and sales presentations with prospective clients as directed. This position requires the Associate to develop a deep understanding of valuation and corporate finance theory, valuation and corporate finance processes and methodologies used by the firm and a detailed working knowledge and expertise with the firms proprietary financial models. This individual should possess relevant and practical transaction experience and training during meaningful time spent with a bulge bracket or credible boutique investment bank. Summary of essential job function Strong intellectual curiosity to research and understand varied business situations and develop extensive business knowledge in support of providing clients superior financial advisory services Ability to work independently on multiple engagements with multiple team members while prioritizing and managing varied responsibilities Ability to think logically, grasp the relevancy of important information when confronted with large amounts of data, and develop sound conclusions based upon the available materials Mastery of complex financial modeling and analysis including valuation modeling (Public comps, M&A; comps, LBO and DCF) and cash flow modeling (capital structuring, credit ratios,, equity returns, sensitivities, etc.) Development of marketing materials for new business opportunities (pitches) Production of Offering and Information Memoranda, as well as Management Presentations General industry research Ability to communicate complex financial analysis and conclusions to individuals who may be unfamiliar with the concepts and analysis Strong writing skills with a focus on describing relevant client company situation analysis, financial review, valuation analysis and other related written communication Strong skills related to presenting analyses, conclusions and recommendations to senior level corporate executives and board members High desire for continuous education and training to advance the Associates professional skills and knowledge Minimum requirements Minimum 2-4 years relevant investment banking or similar experience 4-year accounting or finance undergraduate degree; MBA a plus Capability of managing multiple tasks to completion with little oversight A positive can-do attitude and willingness to work in a team environment Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to deal with people tactfully and effectively Skilled with the Microsoft Office suite including Excel, Word and PowerPoint P
