As Manager – Application Development & Support, you will be responsible for leading and developing a team of engineers that support critical business applications. You will be setting goals, motivating staff, following up and improving performance both at the team and individual level. This position reports to the Vice President and works with other IT teams, business leaders, consultants and end users to set direction and priorities for application initiatives from concept through implementation and application support. Manages employees and external consultants, provides leadership and expertise in technology and application support. Provide project status to executive management including metrics, risks and issues, roadmap for future deliverables. This role requires technical and management expertise. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a high level of expertise in managing a team of up to 10 engineers, including work assignment, setting the strategy and vision for the team and ensuring they deliver high quality work in a timely manner. This role also requires deep technical expertise in Microsoft technologies like SQL Server, SSIS and .Net technologies. Responsibilities:

* Manages day to day activities of the development staff, both onshore and offshore. Holds team accountable for results and develops the skills and capabilities of staff to meet growing demand.

* Provides leadership, functional and technical expertise in the support and operations of business applications both large and small, supporting and coordinating the team, providing daily supervision and technical direction, resolving issues, and fostering an environment of continuous improvement.

* Develops a strategy and roadmap for supporting the business applications. Define staffing plan, review projects and change requests in pipeline, prioritization of these changes by working with business stakeholders, detailed impact analysis, effort estimation and delivery planning.

* Focuses on stabilizing the applications and ensure high quality of code by working with development and testing staff. Perform code reviews as needed, review technical specifications, implementation plans, post deployment reviews and follow up on closure of changes with acceptance from stakeholders.

* Identifies areas of improvement within the legacy applications for enhancements, reduce cost of ownership by automating business requests.

* Manage customer expectations and communicate with all stakeholders

* Works well in a team and is flexible in a fast paced environment

* Ability to multitask Requirements:

* Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering or Management Information Systems Degree

* Strong leader , go getter with 10+ years of progressive experience in developing and managing software applications using .Net technologies (ASP.Net, C#), SSIS, SSRS technologies using waterfall or agile methodologies.

* Excellent understanding of relational databases like SQL Server in database design and modeling, data quality, with hands on experience in writing complex queries , stored procedures, performance tuning

* Proven hands on experience in supporting business critical applications, resolving issues proactively by working closely with stakeholders

* Experienced in designing software systems, knowledge of application architecture and implement best practices

* Excellent analytical and problem solving skills, ability to clearly articulate complex subjects with superior oral, verbal and written communication skills tailored to the audience

* Very good experience in estimating and sizing development efforts

* Experienced with Office products like Excel, Powerpoint

* Experienced with any source-code management tools like Perforce or VSS
