Rising hip hop star Abra is set to record a song for the original soundtrack of ABS-CBN's newest series "Juan dela Cruz."

Abra, Raymond Abracosa in real life, gained popularity in the underground scene via the Filipino rap battle league "Fliptop." His music video for "Gayuma" has already earned more than 14 million views on YouTube since it was released September 30 last year.

Speaking about the message of "Alab Ng Puso," Abra said: "The message of the song is not just for the teleserye. Applicable ito sa akin at sa lahat ng kabataan. It's about becoming a superhero out of the kindest of your heart, na pag galing sa puso ang ginagawa mo, may kakaiba kang pwedeng magawa."

"Imbes na bigyan lang natin sila ng magandang music, may learning din silang mapupulot sa mga kanta ko," he added.

Asked if his background ever alienate him from the underground crowd, he said: "Hindi nama porket may pera ka, masama yon. One can be street, too, kahit ano pa ang estado mo sa buhay. Being street is a lifestyle, a sensibility."

Aside from the commissioned work in "Juan dela Cruz," the rapper is also set to collaborate with comedian Vice Ganda after guesting on the latter's show weeks back.

Abra started his career as a member of Pinoy hip hop group Lyrically Deranged Poets in 2010. He finished school at the University of Asia and the Pacific (UA&P) in 2011.
