When some time ago announcing the Society of British and International Design (SBID) representative office opening in Kyiv we put especially high emphasis it was a remarkable occasion for the Ukrainian design. On the 6th of October, 2016 the event proving the fact took place at Shcherbenko Art Centre. The first national contest Get me 2 the Top was launched under the patronage of SBID. It is supposed to define the most competitive creator among the students of the professional Universities.

Reynolds and Reyner Studio became the key partner of the event. On the eve of the official opening ceremony the local SBID representatives in Ukraine Julia Danilova (the founder of Domio Home Interiors) and Nataliya Bolshakova (the leading interior designer, winner of numerous international and national contests) held a series of introductive meetings with the young designers.

The competition is not only a unique opportunity for each student to present the own design talent right upon the sunrise of the creative career but a great hope of the partners themselves to approach the prospective of the national design integration with the advanced international tendencies. It is now if properly supported that the unique ideas of young Ukrainians are forwarded to the European and global level. The evening started with the press-conference participated by Vanessa Brady, the SBID President, Nina Vasadze, the Mersedes-Benz Kiev Fashion Days co-founder, Wendy Anderson, Director of International Development CCW and Chairperson at Admissions of Camberwell Chelsea and Wimbledon Colleges of Art and Design and of the University of the Arts London), Elena Hilkova, the University of the Arts London Representative in Ukraine and CIS, Nataliya Bolshakova and Julia Danilova. After advanced online registration each student could attend the meeting, heads of the large companies, famous designers, opinion-leaders of the branch and mass media being also invited. Friendly atmosphere was supported by special guests Aniko Dolinze & jazz-band и Dj Davaj.

After a two-stage judgment process including jury in GB, the total winner granted 3 months internship within the leading British design Studio will be defined. He/she and the winners in each nomination, is planned to gain the honorary 1 year membership at SBID, publication of the projects at the eSociety and other privileges. The participants’ projects selection has already started and will last until the 31st of January, 2017. Until then anyone is welcome to submit a work or several of them within the frames of any nominations offered (product design, private space, public space) to the sbid.org official web. It is planned that the names of the winners will be announced during the final ceremony of the competition on the 17th of March at the British Ambassador Judith Gough’s official residence.
