Glasgow is a city with history, culture and lively people at the heart of its character.

A lot like Havana.

Sure, Glasgow might lack a dose of red hot Caribbean sunshine, but these Glaswegian landmarks prove that this city shares a lot of Cuban DNA.

Take a look.

Barrowland Ballroom

The world famous Barrowland Ballroom has played host to some of the biggest names in music, from U2 to Oasis to The Smiths.

It’s huge, colourful neon sign is said to be the biggest of its kind in the UK, and it’s completely emblematic of the loud, passionate attitude all Cubans have towards life.

Glasgow Green

Established in the 15th century, this gorgeous park is the oldest one in the city, and accordingly, it’s absolutely full of history.

From the majestic Nelson Monument to the huge McLennan Arch, this park reflects a city that’s as proud of its heritage and culture as Cubans are.

Val D’Oro Fish & Chips

It’s not often that you could consider a casual eatery a landmark, but this one’s a bit special.

Open since 1875, this ‘chippy’ serves up delicious fish and chips with a twist. What’s the twist?

The owner, Luigi Corvi, happens to be a classically trained opera singer, and he’ll belt out an aria of your choosing as he’s serving up your meal.

A passion for music and local authentic food. That’s about as Cuban as it gets.

Glasgow City Chambers

Built at the end of 19th century, this breathtaking example of Victorian architecture is bursting with marble floors, grand staircases and banqueting halls, and quite frankly is about as grandiose as architecture gets.

It’s not a far cry from the colonial architecture of Cuba’s Trinidad. In fact – we’ll have to admit, it might even be a notch or two above!

River Clyde

Like a rippling mirror made to reflect the Glasgow’s glorious skyline, the River Clyde makes this city look and feel good.

It’s Glasgow’s version of Havana’s Malecon, and all the proof you’ll ever need that these two cities are made for each other.

That’s why we can’t wait to open our doors in Glasgow.
