Review Of Traffic & Conversion Summit 2016
You’ve heard what I have to say on the subject…
So now take a look at what our local content guru has to say.
This is Tabitha Naylor’s review of the last summit in 2016.
Note that she’s talking about the impact it had for her business… not in terms of what she does for us at Web Marketing Outlaws as well.
Basic Information
Digital Marketer, a one-stop shop for marketers and entrepreneurs to learn how to drive more traffic to their sites and boost conversions and social engagement, hosted the 2016 T&C Summit at the Manchester Grand Hyatt in San Diego on February 9, 10 and 11th.
Now, I may or may not be a little biased since I’ve actually written some content for these folks in the past, but over 3,000 people attended, and I can tell you from firsthand experience that it was an amazing time.
It cost me $697 to attend the conference because I locked in on an “Earlybird” package… but I know a couple people who paid at the door, which cost $1,997, and they all felt that it was money well spent.
What Kind Of Marketers Attended?
I ran into a lot of marketers who had been in business for a while and were really looking for guidance in pushing their companies to the next level.
So this conference felt more like entrepreneurs who had conquered that first level of getting their companies to a level of success and were now looking to broaden their target markets and elevate their brand.
But because the summit was so big, the only way to network and meet-and-greet in a way that felt useful was to attend as many events as possible, which is what I did.
I was dead tired by the time it was over but it was well worth it, especially since there were a few marketers at the summit who I’d connected with online or by phone beforehand, so meeting them was very important in continuing to build out those relationships.

Who Spoke About What?
The conference founders – Ryan Deiss and Perry Belcher – are always great to listen to. I really enjoyed listening to Richard Lindner as well, since email marketing and list building were two areas I really wanted to “bone up” on this year.
The Big Get for me (and a lot of other people) was Daymond John, who kills it on Shark Tank, which just so happens to be a guilty little TV pleasure of mine.
Out of all the sharks, he’s always been my favorite since he emphasizes the importance on branding, which too many business owners overlook. Plus, he’s not nearly as abrasive… at least most of the time.
Unlike most people who attended the T&C Summit, I have a bit more knowledge of John since an old client of mine actually consulted with him and I was loosely involved in the process. So, it was nice to get to hear him speak after having worked with his company.
Gary Vaynerchuck is a class act and I know that myself, along with many others, find him extremely inspirational. So getting to hear him speak was a nice bonus, as was listening to Ben Adkins, who I just so happen to be a loyal customer to. That guy is always coming up with great marketing ideas, which I’ve implemented both for myself and for my clients. If you’re ever looking to get a leg up on your competition, stay in-the-know with what he’s up to.
In addition to all these headliners, the Digital Marketer team broke out into smaller valuable sessions on using podcasts to attract new visitors, agency marketing, the pros and cons of paid traffic, and case studies of successful marketing strategies.
For me, I liked the diversity of topics that were covered… I left with a bunch of new marketing strategies to implement, and a lot of food for thought as well.
Was It Well Organized?
In a word, yes.
The facilities were first-class, the schedule was maintained, the speakers were all top-notch and staff members were always available and happy to answer all of my dumb questions (of which I had quite a few).
Will You Do It Again?
Not only will I be doing it again, I’m doing Super Early Bird pre-registration and getting the VIP package for the 2017 T&C Summit.
A friend of mind sprung for the VIP package at the 2016 T&C Summit and said that the additional cost was worth its weight in gold since you have hassle-free registration, a special VIP entrance and premium seating.
PLUS, you can apparently drop in on the VIP Lounge anytime you want for a drink or something to eat. My friend said that the speakers were always hanging out there, so the networking was fantastic.

At the end of the day, the conference was very valuable for my business, and it helped me feel like I was a part of an amazing digital community. As someone who telecommutes, I often feel like I’m disconnected with the rest of the world, so being a part of an event where there was such a high degree of camaraderie was wonderful.
I highly recommend it.
