The 2017 Audi TT RS coupe and convertible were unveiled by Audi at the 2016 Motor Show in Beijing. The coupe will be targeted at car fans who are longing for a high-performance vehicle, but unfortunately, the new Audi TT RS convertible version will not be released in the United States. Moreover, the U.S. technical specifications and pricing have not been decided. The sedan is road legal and track prepared. The sedan will be sold under the Audi Sports tag, the lofty performance, and motorsport limb of Audi that aims at the Mercedes-AMG and BMW M vehicles. The only major competitor to the 2017 model TT RS coupe is the 2017 model 718 Cayman coupe from Porsche. Other competitors include Mercedes-Benz SLK-Class and the BMW Z4.
2017 Audi TT RS Changes, Exterior
As usual with all Audi models, the next generation Audi TT RS comes with a more athletic look that separates it from other models in the Audi lineup. For the 2017 model year, the new TT RS comes with distinguishing external features, such as a redesigned front fascia with bigger air inlets, a lower spoiler, and a distinguished honeycomb grille. In addition, the redesigned side sills lead the eyes of the observer to the back where a big fixed spoiler shows its athletic intentions and double egg-shaped exhaust tips emanate that renowned inline-five din from the engine.
At the rear, the new Audi TT RS 2017 comes equipped with organic LED or OLED tail lamps that are being employed for the first time in an Audi model. The lights offer a brighter glow without the necessity for reflectors. Other notable external features comprise a hostile body kit with a fixed back wing and two elliptical exhaust pipes. The new vehicle will be offered with a set 19-inch alloy wheels as standard and a set of 20-inch forged frivolous alloy wheels and a carbon-ceramic brake pack as optional features.
2017 Audi TT RS Interior
Inside the new Audi TT, the cabin comes equipped with an Audi Virtual Cockpit with the size of 12.3 inches with three available sights, an RS leather-enfolded sports guiding wheel, Audi multimedia interface Navigation Plus system and shifter paddles as standard.
As if in the R8 coupe of Audi, the driver of the new Audi TT RS 2017 can start the engine from the guiding wheel directly, a feature enthused by sedan racing. This indicates that the hands of the driver will always rest on the wheel. The driver can power the exhaust beat control through the sound key on the middle console. A unique RS screen inside the cabin shows information on torque, tire pressure, and g-forces.
Engine
For the model year 2017, Both the coupe and the convertible versions come equipped with the redesigned version of the Audi’s five-cylinder powertrain with the displacement of 2.5 liters. The automaker spent time in making this award-winning powertrain lighter at the same time as reducing the internal friction. As a result, the 2017 Audi TT RS engine offers a peak power output of 400 ponies and the peak twist of 354 pounds per foot. This is 40 ponies and 11 pounds per foot more than the power and twist offered by the engine of the 2013 model TT RS.
Handling the power is a double-clutch seven-velocity S-Tronic gearbox and a stable all-wheel-drive configuration for immense grip. There is no optional manual transmission, as well. Through this powertrain, the coupe version attains the 62 mph velocity from the start in 3.7 seconds, whereas the convertible version attains the same speed in 3.9 seconds. Audi set the velocity limiter to the preferred top velocity of Germany at 155 mph, but it will discharge an additional 19 mph upon demand.
Base price and the date of release
The 2018 Audi TT RS release date in Europe is expected to be late 2016. The coupe version will be available at a starting price of €66,400 ($75,075) whereas the convertible version will be available at €69,200 ($78,241).
