The TCR Disc range brings the added control of integrated disc-brake technology to the highly-regarded TCR race bike.
The pro peloton may not be ready for disc brakes, but that’s not stopping the world’s largest bike maker from pushing on with the technology. This week, Giant rolled out a disc brake version of its popular TCR race bike. The new TCR Disc will include the TCR Advanced SL Disc ($8250), TCR Advanced Pro Disc ($4700) and TCR Advanced 1 Disc ($2450).
The TCR Advanced SL Disc model comes with the Giant SLR 0 WheelSystem, new Giant Gavia SLR tubeless ready tires, and a SRAM Red eTap wireless electronic groupset. Price is $8250.
Each purpose-built frame is engineered with flat-mount disc brake technology for more consistent braking power. And the new front (12 x 100mm) and rear (12 x 142mm) thru-axle setups enhance steering stiffness. The TCR Advanced SL Disc and TCR Advanced Pro Disc models also come equipped with Giant’s SLR Disc WheelSystem and new Gavia SLR tubeless tires.
The TCR Advanced Pro Disc model comes with the Giant SLR 1 WheelSystem, new Giant Gavia SLR tubeless ready tires, and a Shimano Ultegra groupset. Price is $4700.
The TCR Advanced SL Disc is the lightest TCR, crafted from Giant’s top-shelf Advanced SL-grade composite. The toptube, seattube, integrated seatpost and seatstays feature minimalistic profiles, while the PowerCore bottom bracket has each been refined to maintain the stiffness and efficiency that the TCR range is known for. The Variant Integrated Seatpost design allowed Giant engineers to balance compliance and efficiency for improved race-tuned ride quality. The bike also has an Advanced SL-grade composite fork and OverDrive 2 steerer tube and MegaDrive downtube.
The TCR Advanced 1 Disc features a mixed Shimano hydraulic disc brakes and drivetrain component spec. Price is $2450.
The TCR Advanced Pro Disc steps down to the Advanced-grade composite frameset including, and has a full composite fork and OverDrive 2 steerer tube. This series features the Variant seatpost (non-integrated), and many of the same frame technologies as the TCR Advanced SL Disc, including MegaDrive, PowerCore and internal cable routing.
Finally, the TCR Advanced Disc series features the same Advanced-grade composite frame as the TCR Advanced Pro Disc, but with a composite fork and hybrid OverDrive steerer tube. The TCR Disc range will be available starting this July. Learn more at www.giantwww.giant-bicycles.com/TCRDisc.
