Oracle has added 24 new Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) components to its cloud offering, including: Oracle Database Cloud — Exadata; Oracle Archive Storage Cloud; Oracle Big Data Cloud; Oracle Integration Cloud; Oracle Mobile Cloud and Oracle Process Cloud.
The Oracle Cloud suite supports more than 70 million users and more than 33 billion transactions each day. The platform operates on 54,000 devices and more than 700 petabytes of storage in 19 data centers worldwide.
The Oracle Cloud Platform is designed to help customers build new applications, extend existing ones, and move existing on-premises workloads to the cloud with no application changes. The new services can maximize end-user experience and productivity; enable developers to manage and analyze data; develop, test and deploy applications; enable architects to quickly integrate across on-premises and cloud applications; and enable business users to drive rich business insights and enterprise collaboration.
Oracle sold $426 million worth of business in PaaS and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) applications in its most recent financial quarter, representing a 200% increase over the same quarter in 2014, according to Larry Ellison, Executive Chairman of the Board and CTO of Oracle, in a live presentation.

The major PaaS applications highlighted in the presentation include:
Oracle Database Cloud — Exadata Service, which enables customers to run Oracle databases in the cloud with the same functionality, performance and availability of on-premises Oracle Exadata-based production databases. Oracle databases deployed in the cloud as part of this service are fully compatible with those that are deployed on-premises, enabling a smoother transition to a hybrid cloud strategy.
Oracle Archive Storage Cloud Service, which provides storage for applications and workloads that require long-term retention at low costs. The Archive Storage Cloud is suited for infrequently accessed large-scale data sets, such as corporate financial records, medical and pharmaceutical archives, cultural preservation content, insurance records and digital film masters. The service is backed by enterprise-grade service level agreements (SLAs), and enables organizations to access archived documents and data sets using APIs.
Oracle Big Data Cloud Service and Big Data SQL Cloud Service, which is designed to provide a high-performance, secure platform for running diverse workloads on Hadoop and NoSQL databases to help enterprises acquire and organize Big Data.
Oracle Integration Cloud Service, which is designed to simplify integration between the cloud and on-premise Oracle and third-party applications. Pre-built integrations and embedded best practice recommendations can provide a new application integration experience, which in turn, combines business users’ ease-of-use requirements with the Oracle SOA Suite.
Oracle Mobile Cloud Service, which is a Mobile Backend-as-a-Service (MBaaS) designed to allow developers to develop and deploy mobile apps integrated with an enterprise-grade backend cloud infrastructure. Additionally, with built-in mobile analytics, business stakeholders can use the service to gain insights into mobile app usage and adoption.
Oracle Process Cloud Service, which enables business users to deliver process applications independent of IT. With a cloud-based process automation platform, the Process Cloud is designed to empower business users to manage the entire lifecycle of business processes.
