नई दिल्ली। जूनियर कमीशन ऑफीसर्स (जेसीओ) और अन्य रैंक पर भर्ती के लिये भारतीय सेना ने एक अलग से वेबसाइट लॉन्च की है। वेबसाइट का URL है http://www.joinindianarmy.nic.in, जिस पर क्लिक करके आप आर्मी में जॉब्स तलाश सकते हैं। Indian Army ADVERTISEMENT दिल्ली में साउथ ब्लॉक में इस नई वेबसाइट का उद्घाटन थल सेना के वाइस चीफ लेफ्टनेंट जनरल फिलिप कमपोस ने किया। उन्होंने कहा कि इस वेबसाइट से सेना में भर्ती को एक नई गति मिलेगी। इससे भर्ती प्रक्रिया में भी परिवर्तन आयेगा और देश के किसी भी कोने से छात्र आर्मी में अप्लाई कर सकेंगे। इस वेबसाइट पर भर्ती से संबंधित सूचनाएं, नियमावली एवं फॉर्म 1 जुलाई 2015 से उपलब्ध होंगे। भारतीय सेना की एक और वेबसाइट http://indianarmy.nic.in यथावत कार्य करती रहेगी। तो फिर देर किस बात की है, अगर आप भी सेना में जाना चाहते हैं, तो इस वेबसाइट को समय-समय पर लॉग इन करते रहें। इस पर आपको हर प्रकार की सूचनाएं मिलेंगी। साथ ही आप भारतीय सेना में कहां क्या हो रहा है, यह भी जान सकेंगे।

I joined the Indian Army after graduating from IIT Kharagpur. The normal method for Engineering Graduates is to appear for the SSB (Services Selection Board) – the tests involve assessing your leadership abilities, problem solving and also physical attributes. You also have a comprehensive medical. If you get through you join IMA (Indian Military Academy) in Dehra Dun. The course there is one year long. The training is specialized but you train along with direct entry, NDA and AOC entrants. When you graduate you become an Officer, you opt for one of three arms or services.

Your only option in the Army now is through the UES or TGC for engineers, or CDS for regular graduates. In case of the UES/TGC application, you are called to the SSB directly, whereas you have to clear a written exam in case of CDS entry. In case of a technical entry, myopic vision doesn’t matter as long as you have 66 with glasses.
I was a Mechanical Engineer and should have gone to the EME organization, which is a service. Since I wanted a combat arm, I asked for Gurkha’s, Armoured Corps and Engineers (Engineers and Signals are considered combat arms). When I joined the option to join the Combat Arms was not there, so I went into Engineers. As a Young Officer we all went to CME in Pune, to learn about combat engineering (demolitions, building bridges, roads, mine warfare, obstacles etc). And then one joins the unit to which you are assigned.
My understanding is that these days one can opt for a Infantry, Armor, Artillery etc, but am not sure of this. I also understand that ALL officers now go through the Commando Course. Once you join your unit you could opt to join Rashtriya Rifles on deputation – they are deployed in counter-insurgency operations in Kashmir and you could get all the combat you want.
