A data driven and rapidly growing online advertising company is seeking a highly talented, creative and motivated Data Mining expert. This person will be responsible for analyzing many data sources that include online browsing behavior, search terms, online and offline purchasing, campaign performance and survey responses, in order to enhance unique online ad targeting algorithms. We are looking for someone who enjoys the challenge of a fast-paced start-up environment, likes to break innovative new ground, and possesses a proven ability to balance theory with pragmatic problem solving skills.
Key Responsibilities
Build predictive models from multiple data sources, develop advanced algorithms that extract and classify information from large, noisy, unstructured datasets
Create adaptive models that generate high-value data elements (e.g., performance predictions, behavior classifiers) for inclusion in online display and video campaigns
Design and Implement a platform for cleansing, harmonizing, classifying, matching and merging data sources
Develop information extraction and text classification algorithms for extracting data from unstructured text
Qualifications & Experience Requirements
Theoretical knowledge, intuitive understanding and practical hands-on experience with: Bayesian models, neural networks, machine learning and other data mining techniques
Experience in online advertising analytics, behavioral targeting, online marketing analysis or web analytics required
Demonstrated ability to apply statistical techniques to solve real problems
Experience with statistical software (such as Matlab, R, SAS, SPSS, S-Plus)
Knowledge of SQL, relational database design and methods for efficiently retrieving data from them.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Ability to work independently and in a team to develop innovative solutions
Experience in Java, C++, Perl and/or Python is a plus
Experience in natural-language processing techniques (e.g., classification of unstructured content, entity resolution, information extraction) a plus
5-10 years professional experience
Must be able to maintain a “Big Picture” perspective
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Must have entrepreneurial spirit and drive and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Educational Requirements
MS or PhD in statistics, econometrics, computer science, operations research, mathematics or related field.
