Stanford University has created a digital archive of Richard Diebenkorn’s sketchbooks. “The Cantor Arts Center recently launched a new website that gives access to the museum’s collection of 29 sketchbooks by Richard Diebenkorn (1922–1993), a renowned artist celebrated as both a central figure in the Bay Area figurative movement and a key figure in the nationwide development of abstract expressionism and color-field painting.”
Genealogy site MyHeritage has added a book collection. “As a test case I searched on publication place = North Carolina and keywords = “Wake County.” There are purportedly 1,301,429 results though I only looked at the first 40 or so which included Yackety Yak (UNC Chapel Hear College Yearbook), Shaw University Catalogue (HBC), Minutes of the South River Baptist Association annual sessions, City Directory of Asheville NC (1910), Greensboro City Directory (1912-1913), Walsh’s Charlotte NC City Directory (1907), and much more.

I could have used this a time or two: a roundup of online, actual-size rulers. “Out of all these calibration ways, ruler which are based on screen size doesn’t contain complete accuracy. I have arranged all the online ruler websites according to their popularity and accuracy. Some of them contain millimeter ruler, centimeter ruler while some inch ruler.”

Twitter suspended a user in a case of mistaken identity. “An Arab Spring activist says his Twitter account was suspended after administrators mistook him for the leader of the so-called Islamic State.”
Hmm. Yahoo is putting a big chunk of land it owns in Santa Clara up for sale. “Sunnyvale-based Yahoo is quietly shopping a massive, 48.6-acre development site it owns in Santa Clara not far from Levi’s Stadium, according to three people familiar with the situation. While Yahoo won’t talk about it, brokers for Yahoo have reached out to potential buyers in recent weeks, these people said.”
In Goa, India, police are using Google Maps to watch traffic. “The Goa traffic police have started using Google Maps to monitor vehicular traffic especially during peak hours. Google Maps provides real-time traffic information and according to police officials, the technology so far has proved beneficial in managing the road traffic.”
