Celebrate Halloween with a fun crocheted coffee cup cozy! I like to think of this as a little treat for the adults. Now my pumpkin spice latte will have its own pumpkin cozy :) Of course, you can use the basic cozy pattern to make a plain cozy or you can embellish/personalize however you'd like!
For this pattern, I chained one in between each SC to create a little twist on the basic single crochet pattern and it works up a little faster as well.
Materials:
- Worsted weight yarn
- Size H Crochet Hook
- Tapestry needle
- Felt for embellishments
- 1 inch buttons
Abbreviations:
SC = Single Crochet
Cup Cozy Pattern
Feel free to make as long or short as you would like so they fit your coffee cup. These ones are about 9 inches long and fit a Starbucks grande cup.
Chain 15, SC in 3rd chain from hook. Now [Chain 1, skip next Chain, SC in next Chain] all the way across. Chain 1, turn.
Row 2-36: [SC in first chain-1 space, chain 1, SC in next chain-1 space, chain 1] continue this pattern. When you get to the end you will want to make sure you are ending with a SC in the last SC from the previous row. Then chain 1 and turn. See picture below.
Row 37: SC in first chain-1 space, chain 5, SC in next chain-1 space, chain 1, SC in next chain-1 space, chain 1, SC in next chain-1 space, chain 1, SC in next chain-1 space, chain 5, SC in next chain-1 space, join and fasten off, weave in ends.
Sew buttons on to the end where you started from.
Cut out faces and fun halloween creatures from felt. Use my good old friend Google Images to find templates of jack-o-lantern faces, spiders, and frankenstein faces. Once I cut out my felt, I used a hot glue gun to the attach them to my cozies. You could also sew the felt on (if you have more patience than me). I used Lion Brand Fun Fur in Black for the frankenstein hair. After I finished my cozy pattern, I single crocheted across the top with the fun fur.
