Bursary Details:

The Mitchell’s Plain Bursary and Role Model Trust assists with registration and/or tuition fees for studies at tertiary institutions such as the University of Cape Town, University of the Western Cape, University of Stellenbosch, Cape Peninsula University of Technology and Further Education and Training Colleges.

The Trust will offer financial assistance to a maximum amount set by the Trust to applicants that have been successfully accepted for further study at a tertiary institution. The Trust does not provide full bursaries and applicants are advised to also apply for additional corporate bursaries, government bursaries through NSFAS or publicly funded loans or grants to cover their tuition fees. The Trust facilitates learners’ access to tertiary education through initial funding and support.

The Trust works closely with all the high schools in Mitchell’s Plain in ensuring that motivated, academically performing and financially deserving learners are given an opportunity to pursue their study and career goals.

Recipients who are successful in their studies for the year may reapply for further support for the following year based on their performance.

All funds are paid directly to the educational institution at which the recipient is studying.

Criteria for Application

In order to qualify for consideration for a bursary from the Mitchell’s Plain Bursary and Role Model Trust, you must:

Be a Grade 12 learner from one of the 17 high schools in Mitchell’s Plain

Reside in Mitchell’s Plain

Be financially deserving

Have a recommendation from your school to apply for the bursary and

Meet the deadline of 30 November 2015 for completed applications.

The Trust will consider applications from academically and financially deserving learners from across all the high schools in Mitchell’s Plain.

Access Trust Bursary 2015

Access Trust has Bursaries opportunities that are full-time for post-matric courses at Western Cape Public FET colleges.

Bursaries are for full-time post-matric courses at Western Cape Public FET colleges only for:

NQF Levels 4 – 5, N4-N6 business and N1-N6 engineering;

engineering practicals if the applicant has a technical matric or has completed at least N2 in engineering.

Bursaries are for class (tuition) and registration fees only.

Applicants must not be older than 23 years of age at start of studies.

Younger students will be given preference.

Applicants already at college must have a minimum of 50% in all tests and exams, or competence in all modules.

Bursaries are not awarded for NCV courses.

Students who have other bursaries may not apply for an Access Trust bursary.

This will be checked and if a student has a second bursary the Access Trust bursary will be withdrawn.

A detailed letter in your own handwriting to motivate your application and explain your family circumstances.

Applications must be posted by standard post. Do not fax or e-mail applications.

University Bursary Programme: Selection criteria

1. Area: Ekurhuleni

2. Household income: R3 000-00 per month

3. Career selection: Although beneficiaries may select a course of their choice, the onus is on them to prove suitability to said course. The trustees may decline a candidate if the course is deemed unsuitable or may not lead to eventual employment

4. Character: The beneficiary should demonstrate a high level of intelligence as well as the following characteristics:-

integrity, ambition, strong leadership, motivated, pro-active and an integral sense of self.

5. Academics: Due to the high failure rates at Universities, the beneficiaries academic record should reflect a minimum of 3 “A’s”, with at least a “B” for English.

6. The trustees no longer sponsor medicine.

7. Maths Paper 3: essential for certain courses, i.e. Engineering

8. English: candidates should have sound command of the English language.
