Yes, you read that correctly. Atlanta-based hip hop artist, 21 Savage, will be gettin’ the crowd litttt. As one of the only rappers on site he’ll have people flocking to witness what kind of savage sh*t he’ll be on. With his music, he reveals a careless attitude due to his risky way of living as a youngan. After the unfortunate happening of getting shot on his 21st birthday, 21 Savage turned to music to cope with the death of his friend whom was killed during the event. Now he’s out demonstrating his endeavours through music for the rest of the world to understand.
Griz is a Michigan-born electronic music producer and musician who has attracted an enormous live following, regularly playing major festivals and selling out headlining tours. Referring to his music as “future funk,” GRiZ produces glitchy, energetic tracks with booming dubstep bass and elements of jazz, hip-hop, and soul. The best thing about Griz is his incredible talent when playing the saxophone, and how he incorporates it into his music and performances. There’s truly no one out there like Griz!
Hailing from Toronto, Zeds Dead, formed in 2009 are an electronic music duo combining multiple styles into their music that is full of heavy bass lines, house, and dubstep. These guys do not allow genres to hold any bearing to their music, but they sure do have a unique and awesome sound of their own. They recently wrapped up their Northern Lights tour that followed the release of their first full album, and it was outrageously successful to say the least. Zeds Dead joined up at Phoenix Lights two years ago, and I can’t wait to see what they bring to the stage this year for their return.
Our next artist announcement is Bro Safari, whom has had a hand in the electronic music scene since it really kicked off in 2012. His hit, “Scumbag,” uses a sample of Notorious B.I.G’s, “Suicidal Thoughts” and is one of the main reasons for his success. Throw that tune on anywhere and the you’re bound to have the crowd up in arms.
Magnus August Høiberg, better known by the stage name Cashmere Cat, is a Norwegian DJ, record producer, musician and turntablist. He represented Norway in the DMC World DJ Championships as DJ Final from 2006 to 2009, and then appeared on the international EDM scene in 2012, with remixes and edits of Lana Del Rey, 2 Chainz, and Jeremih. His debut EP, Mirror Maru, released in October 2012, gained recognition from several other producers and his debut studio album is set to be released in 2017. Cashmere Cat’s sound is hard to lable with a genre, its poppy, chill, and futuristic. You’ll just have to take a listen for yourself to see!
Justin Martin is a house music heavyweight. He’s the co-founder and essential part of the Dirtybird team. Despite his growing popularity he remains loyal to his underground roots. As a DJ, Justin Martin likes to constantly switching back and forth between up-beat, dance-your-ass-off tracks and chill, vibing tracks that makes the audience feel and appreciate the quality of the music.His signature trait as a producer is combining the heavy-hitting kick drum pattern and bassline with groovy, melodious synths and vocals. He released his second EP in April of last year and has been playing shows around the globe since.
Lane 8, currently part of the Anjunadeep label, has carved out a space for himself in the crowded dance music scene with his ability to craft music that appeals to both upbeat clubbing and relaxed at-home listening – a skill that has landed him a wide range of DJ support. Lane 8 has been deemed a ‘Future Star’ by greats like Pete Tong and Dancing Astronaut included him in their ’25 Artists to Watch in 2015. His debut album dropped in 2015 and he’s put out a good amount of singles since then. He’ll be one to see at Phoenix Lights.
Bass-house big-leaguer, Tchami, came into this world as Martin Joseph Leonard Bresso in Paris, France. A a matter of fact, Tchami, his stage name, was thought up while on an adventure in Africa. Since then, he’s been blowing up as a deep house favorite. Surprisingly, he was credited for having a hand in the production of Lady Gaga’s 2013 album, ARTPOP, later moving on to release his own singles that have landed him on our last Mad Decent Block Party and this year’s Phoenix Lights lineup.
Tiga is a DJ and producer from Montreal. He’s been making music for over 25 years even though he hardly looks a day over. He’s put out three albums and countless remixes that have earned him the title of master mixer. He’s remixed songs from The xx, Moby, Depeche Mode and many more. Tiga has a busy touring schedule that often keeps him over seas, but he’ll be making his way to Arizona soon!
ASADI is bringing something a little different to Phoenix Lights. His music consists of trap beats with Persian influence. By mixing samples from his parent’s old Persian tapes with modern trap beats, ASADI has created an entirely new musical experience. He’s a fast-rising talent with a unique, innovative vision and we can’t wait to see what he does here.
Billy Kenny is seen as one of the most influential ambassadors in Germany for the sound he represents. He is widely known for producing the lower frequencies of UK Garage, House, and Techno — his sound is usually described as grungy and aggressive for house music. Since his success kicked off in 2014, Billy has been constantly releasing high-quality bangers for well-known house record labels across the world such as Dirtybird, Sweat It Out, Heldeep, and his co-run German imprint “This Ain’t Bristol“.
Next up we have Codeko. His music surely makes one want to bounce off walls due to its bright, dramatic exhibition. Codeko’s ‘Walking With Lions’ has been deemed the official anthem for Electric Zoo. Listen as it gets you pumped up for any new adventure you’re about to catapult into.
Crizzly is a one of a kind dj/producer as he creates his own brand combining elements of hip-hop and dubstep that he likes to call “crunkstep.” He began producing music at age 19, and hasn’t stopped since. He describes his sound and style to last.fm stating: “It’s definitely a mixture of two different worlds, dance music and hip-hop,” he goes on. “People can connect because there’s a lot going on, and there’s more than one dimension. The audience responds immediately too. Since there’s a half-time feel, the blend just makes sense. It feels right to me.”
Dr. Fresch b2b Bijou is a set you won’t want to miss! Dr. Fresch has been climbing his way to the top since 2013. He introduced Dr. Fresch as an artist with a set of remixes released on Dim Mak Records. In 2013 he also won Insomniac’s Discovery Project which landed him a time slot at Nocturnal Wonderland He released his Debut EP later that year. Bijou is a house music favorite right out of Phoenix! He’s been climbing the ranks with his style of bass and g house beats, finding his way onto lineups all over the country. These two artists have performed together previously and they always bring the heat!
Felix da Housecat is best known for his eclectic house and techno sound. He’s also known for a host of other aliases including Mezcalateer, Thee Maddkatt, and Aphrohead that he’s also released music under. He fell in love with electronic music, more specifically house during it’s rise to prominence in his hometown of Chicago in the eighties. His first album, Metropolis Present Day? Thee Album!, was released in 1995. Over the last 20-plus years, he’s released another 10 albums, a number of mix albums and singles, and a huge amount of remixes for artists like Madonna, Britney Spears, and Miike Snow.
Go Freek will be coming to Phoenix as the duo from down under. They’ll be showcasing their club-style compilation. As simple as they could put their official bio, it states they are “about as fond of Generic Club Music as they are correct spelling.” Their SoundCloud conceives their music as ‘gutter house,’ and they couldn’t have put it any better. With that, we can expect Go Freek’s set to be quite proper.
This queen of electronica has rocked festivals all over the world including Tomorrowland, Big Day Out, the Future Music National Tour, the main stages of Ultra Music Festival and Stereosonic as well as touring Asia supporting Alesso to sold out stadium crowds. With the respect and support of industry leaders around the globe as well as some of the biggest names in dance including Tiesto, Hardwell, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, David Guetta, Bassjackers, and Firebeatz among many others, the distinction of being Pioneer Pro DJ’s most prominent ambassador, and a figurehead within the fight for cancer, Helena Legend has become one of the most watched names in music. Dubbed by DMC World Magazine as “one of the most exciting DJ’s of the moment,” this musical empress is without a doubt leading The Revolution; if you are not ready yet, be prepared for the Helena Legend takeover.
Next up, we have London-bred house producer, Jax Jones. After experimenting with sounds of electronic music, Jones made way to be recognized after contributing to Duke Dumont’s “I Got U.” Once making way for himself with the track, he released his own hit, “Yeah Yeah Yeah” and later partially wrote “Ocean Drive” with Duke as well. From listening to his music it is without a doubt Jax Jones will be put together a refreshing performance for this year’s event.
k?d is a brand new act on the market and he will be making his Arizona debut at this year’s Phoenix Lights. Leaving listeners with a great taste in their mouth really has kept listeners curious, “who really is k?d?” Through his mysteriously drawn depictions of himself we get a better understanding of who he is, but we’re still left wondering. So surely we’ll have a better idea after his Phoenix Lights performance.
Ryan Marks and Kenny Beats came together to create LOUDPVCK in 2009, and have been destroying the scene ever since. While Ryan was out on the west coast producing and DJing electronic music, Kenny was getting his start in the music business by producing rap artists such as Ab Soul, Schoolboy Q, and Smoke DZA. The two may come from different places but the sound evolved when they come together is truly something else. Loudpvck is known for their upbeat and unique brand of bass music incorporating all sorts of unusual sounds.
Low Steppa emerged in 2013 with his huge remix of Route 94’s “My Love”. Since the success of “My Love”, notable productions include his most recent rework of Hardrive’s ‘Deep Inside’, which was picked up by legendary dance label Strictly Rhythm and reached no. 1 within it’s first week of release. He was ‘one to watch’ in 2015 and held a residency in the legendary Ibiza. Low Steppa is a house music prodigy worth paying attention to.
Born in the Philippines but based out of Washington, DC, Manila Killa is a 23 year old music obsessive whose passion for producing transformed from self-taught ableton lessons into a full-fledged career earning him millions of streams online, major festival billings and prominent press coverage. All while finishing his college degree, Manila Killa has found time to kickstart two other music projects that are equally as accomplished — Hotel Garuda & Moving Castle.
Said The Sky is one of the most unique electronic music acts out there as he combines elements of delicate future beats with his flawless piano skills. He has only been on the scene for a few years but has quickly made a name for himself with frequent collaborations with Illenium, and a slew of incredible singles as well. Illenium and Said The Sky are probably one of the most genius collaborations I’ve ever heard, and I look forward to hearing both of them at the same festival.
Creating a genre of his own, Viceroy has found himself being featured in nearly every publication in existence including the famed Vice Magazine, MTV, Gotta Dance Dirty, All Things Go, This Song Is Sick, and many more. In 2012, Viceroy released a slew of chart topping releases on various labels including his well received original pop-gem’s “Chase Us Around”and “Dream Of Bombay”, along with the dance floor filling, “Only Takes”. After headlining multiple tours across the country and sharing some of the world’s most biggest stages with such respected names as Diplo, Plastic Plates and Treasure Fingers, Viceroy has begun to teach even the coldest soul that it can in fact be, “Summertime, All The Time”.
Branden Ratcliff and Jared Poythress make up the electronic music duo, Vindata. The duo has sought out on a mission to expand how we define dance music. Their all-embracing electronic sound seems to balance rugged Hip Hop beats, with deep R&B passions, and Indie-Pop sensibilities.The duo also played noteworthy festivals at TomorrowWorld, Hard Summer, Red Rocks, and Firefly Festival. Their music has gained the support of Flosstradamus, Zed’s Dead, Skrillex, Sweater Beats, Gladiator, Branchez, Kastle, Arty, and more.
Make sure to bring your dancing shoes for this one. We’re pleased to have such a well-versed producer, Wingtip, on our hands for Saturday of Phoenix Lights. His stage name is such a fit for how his music makes one feel. Whether it’s just that or not, it makes way for feeling afloat, comparable to balancing on a set of wings as you look down upon a colorful, jubilant world. So groovy yet so upbeat.
