San Francisco Opera Guild and Saks Fifth Avenue will present Fashion Forward: An Evening with Erdem, at Pier 27, the new San Francisco Cruise Terminal, on Wednesday, March 25. The event will feature a runway presentation of Erdem Fall/Winter 2015, as seen at London Fashion Week, and serve as a  fundraiser for San Francisco Opera Guild’s music education programs.

“I am very excited to showcase my Fall/Winter 2015 collection in San Francisco with Saks Fifth Avenue. I am a strong supporter of the arts and love that the event will benefit the amazing San Francisco Opera Guild,” said Erdem Moralioğlu.

The evening will begin at 6:30pm with a cocktail reception followed by the runway fashion show, a brief live auction and an after-party.  Guests at the Couture level and above will be invited to a VIP Party to meet the designer that evening and a private brunch with Erdem the following morning.

Erdem Fall/Winter 2015, as seen at London Fashion Week:

What to wear? Though the fashion show will feature fall and winter looks for 2015, no doubt most guests will wear new favorites from spring 2015, available now.  This spring, Saks Fifth Avenue finds inspiration in the past; select spring themes include a ‘70s Revival, a leisure sport-meets-fashion movement and an emergence of opulent fantasy fabrics. For spring’s most opulent looks, the magic comes from fantasy fabrics with elaborate embellishments, intricate lace and spellbinding decorations on classic silhouettes.

Saks Fifth Avenue’s key items of the season:

DECORATIVE FABRICS – Rich and exuberantly detailed fabrics including intricate brocades, jacquards, patchwork and collage effects will bring regal dimension to ready-to-wear.

OPULENT EMBELLISHMENT – Luxurious ornamentation using artisanal techniques transform the everyday into the extraordinary with beads and crystals, feathers and fringe and elements of shine.

LACE — Lace re-emerges for spring in different iterations ranging from romantic to bohemian; whether re-embroidered and layered, or sheer and transparent.

FRINGE – The season’s embellishment of choice: fringe. Statement pieces are reimagined in suede, beading and even evening wear.

CHECKS — A play on graphics and scale comes through in a series of charmingly fresh checks. From smaller gingham to larger buffalo patterns, checks are the new graphic option.

ACTIVEWEAR – Classic and contemporary designers alike embrace sporty, athletic styles like mesh-accented dresses, micro-fiber tops and lightweight, relaxed track pants.

MIDI AND MAXI LENGTHS –Midi and maxi dresses and skirts are dominant lengths for spring. From skinny tube skirts to more voluptuous versions, the midi skirt was seen in collections in all the major fashion weeks. The maxi length took over the runways with its dramatic, yet bohemian spirit. Designers elevated the maxi with vibrant, yet glamorous prints and fabrications.

MICRO AND MINI BAGS – Designers get playful with scale, creating key shapes in shrunken proportions for arm candy that is as decorative as it is diminutive.

GLADIATORS – A new generation of gladiators emerges with ferocious fringe, gilded finishes and bohemian flair. From flats to heels, the thigh’s the limit for the formidable gladiator.
