Intrigued to find out more, I have been in contact with Lorenza, the lady behind the consignment store Lovely Objects Used, to ask about her shop's history and the beautiful recycled pretties that can be found within it.

What is your shop called, what do you sell?
My shop is called LOVELY OBJECTS USED. It came from a joke with a friend, and from my second name Louise. In my shop you can find fashion and vintage accessories, the clothes are very modern and varied. You can find on the same clothes rack, Prada clothes mixed with Mango, Zara or H&M. You can find granny bags mixed together with high fashion bags such as Louis Vuitton, Gucci and Prada.

Where is your shop located?
The shop is located in Vicenza, Italy. Vicenza is quite a small city approximately 60km west of Venice. It is a very beautiful city - architecturally speaking. In the city center you can find other two second hand and vintage stores, but in the province you can find bigger second hand shop called Mercatopoli.
Tell us about you, and your motivation to start your store
Since I was child I always wore second hand clothes from my sister or my cousins. I've never had a problem with used clothes that another person has worn, actually I'm quite sure that any object coming from somebody else has a secret little story inside that comes back while we are wearing it! That is the reason that drove me to open a second hand shop.

Where do you source your products from?
I work on a consignment goods way, people come to my shop and give me their clothes to sell. I sort through clothes, and decide what is the right price to sell for. When goods get sold, the owner gets 50% of the price. I love to manage goods on consignment, as this way I am constantly obtaining different clothes for my shop. For example, if you visit once a week, it is doubtful you will see the same things in the shop you saw the week before.

When did you start trading?
I opened my shop in 2009.

Do you sell your products to people all over the world?
I would love to, but I don't have a website. I do have a blog and a Facebook page, where people can buy from me via the safety of PayPal. Through Instagram I happened to sell a bag to a lady that lives in London.

What are the future plans for your shop?
I really hope that my shop will grow and that it gets loved more and more. I live in the hope that people that don't understand buying second hand clothes will change and that buying recycled becomes the norm. There is nothing wrong with buying second hand clothes, it is actually cheaper, you avoid waste and you can dress in a different and an original way.
