Biden. Gore. And Klain was the guy who gave the green light to pissing away billions of federal dollars on Solyndra.

Ron Klain appointed despite no medical background

The new Ebola czar has ties to a secret liberal dark money group and once worked as a lobbyist for a prescription drug company that denied experimental drugs to dying cancer patients.
Ron Klain, a former adviser to former Vice President Al Gore, Vice President Joe Biden, and President Barack Obama, currently is president of Case Holdings and is general counsel to the investment firm Revolution LLC.
Klain is also a trustee for Third Way. Claiming to be the voice for the “vital center,” Third Way is a progressive think tank that advocates for immigration reform, gun control, and a “credible alternative to neoconservative security policy.”
Third Way is also listed on the Democracy Alliance’s “Progressive Infrastructure Map.”
The map, which is detailed in a report by Politico’s Kenneth Vogel, includes organizations that are “politically active and progressive” and “strategically significant.” Third Way is one of the groups listed with a note of special appreciation for playing “instrumental roles in building a stronger, more integrated progressive infrastructure.”
The Democracy Alliance solicits contributions from liberal millionaires and billionaires and serves as a “pass through” between those donors and top liberal advocacy groups, including the Center for American Progress, Media Matters for America, and Democratic Super PAC Priorities USA.
Klain is also on the Board of Directors for the Center for American Progress Action Fund.
He will be in charge of the administration’s emergency response efforts to Ebola, despite having no medical or health care background.
Klain did lobby on behalf of a prescription drug company that was accused of withholding life-saving drugs from dying patients.
While working at O’Melveny & Myers after he left the Clinton administration, Klain helped ImClone push back on a congressional investigation into the company’s procedures for granting cancer patients experimental drugs.
The company only granted 30 so-called “compassionate use” supplies out of more than 10,000 requests, according to Politico. Klain and his team lobbied House members on the Oversight committee for ImClone before a hearing that featured family members of cancer patients who died while waiting for the company to grant them use of an experimental drug.
Klain and his firm were paid $40,000 to lobby for ImClone for two weeks.

One of the great mysteries of the Ebola crisis has been the administration’s refusal to consider a travel ban from countries with active Ebola outbreaks. This technique is tested and proven. The technical term is “quarantine.” It has been in use since the days of sailing ships when a ship entered port it was inspected for any occurrence of an infectious disease and, if found, had to fly a yellow flag until it was certified clear. It is why Ellis Island was established.
Right now, people continue to arrive in the United States from affected countries at the rate of over 1,000 per week. One. Thousand. Per. Week. They do so legally and with the cooperation of the United States government. They do so despite (or because) of the fact that our screening depends upon 1) a crude measure of temperature that can be easily evaded by the use of over the counter cold/flu medicines and 2) a questionnaire that depends upon the traveler being truthful. In this case, the very screening method we use guarantee it cannot work. Interestingly, other African nations aren’t under the same delusions as Tom Frieden and the CDC, they have imposed a travel ban and it is working.
Health officials battling the Ebola outbreak that has killed more than 4,500 people in West Africa have managed to limit its spread on the continent to five countries — and two of them appear to have snuffed out the disease.
The developments constitute a modest success in an otherwise bleak situation.
Officials credit tighter border controls, good patient-tracking and other medical practices, and just plain luck with keeping Ebola confined mostly to Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea since the outbreak was first identified nearly seven months ago.
Senegal did so well in finding and isolating a man with Ebola who had slipped across the border from Guinea in August that the World Health Organization on Friday will declare the end of the disease in Senegal if no new cases surface.
Nigeria is another success story. It had 20 cases and eight deaths after the virus was brought by a Liberian-American who flew from Liberia to Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial capital of 21 million people, in July. Nearly 900 people were potentially exposed to the virus by the traveler, who died, and the disease could have wreaked havoc in Africa’s most populous nation.
As we’ve discussed earlier, part of the resistance to a travel ban is rooted deep in the left wing ideology so endemic in the public health community. The same mindset that resisted contact tracing to fight AIDS because the disease was most prevalent among male homosexuals… an oppressed, in their view, minority. Part, though, seems to be driven by Obama’s foreign policy:
A Republican lawmaker claims the real reason the Obama administration is opposing a travel ban for Ebola-stricken African countries is that U.S. officials are concerned about hurting their economies — a dollars-and-cents reason, the lawmaker says, doesn’t make much sense.
Rep. Tim Murphy (R-PA)51%, R-Pa., whose House subcommittee held a high-profile hearing Thursday on the Ebola virus, told Fox News that Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director Tom Frieden is the one who gave him that explanation.
“He explained to me … the concern was that these are fledgling democracies and if we put a travel ban that that may affect their economy and harm them,” Murphy said.
Murphy reiterated the concerns at Thursday’s hearing, charging that public health policies may be “based upon a stated concern with cutting commercial ties with fledgling democracies rather than protecting public health in the United States.”
This is actually quite easy to believe.
We know, with some certainty, that Frieden is not calling the shots on overall Ebola policy. None of this takes away from the way he has totally screwed the pooch on what he is responsible for. (Update: a new Ebola czar has been appointed as I was plodding my way through writing this). We also know that Obama is not averse to breaking a few eggs to make a batch of burned eggs, for instance:
Several hundred Mexicans and at least one US Border Patrol agent have been killed because of a scheme to create violence on the US-Mexico border as a pretense for a new regime of gun control laws.
A brutal civil war was encouraged in Syria in order to prove the efficacy of cheaply overthowing various dictators.
Obama has invested heavily in assisting Africa, trade and economic development are part of that. Is it unreasonable to think he could decide that a few dozen or few hundred American dead from Ebola were a small price to pay for preserving national economies in West Africa?

Just when you thought Ebola and Islam were two separate news stories, it’s being reported that Sharia law is actually facilitating the spread of the deadly virus. The burial rituals and practices in Sharia constitutes a toxic brew when the deceased died of Ebola. In fact, Ebola is even more contagious when handling corpses of people with it.
There is a significant Muslim population in all of the west African countries where Ebola is metastasizing with two of those countries having a super majority Muslim population. Paul Sperry explains:
Islam isn’t just at the heart of the terror threat posed by the Islamic State. The religion is also contributing to the other major crisis plaguing the globe: the spread of Ebola.
Washington and its media stenographers won’t tell you this, lest they look intolerant, but Islamic burial rituals are a key reason why health officials can’t contain the spread of the deadly disease in West Africa.
Many of the victims of Ebola in the three hot-spot nations there — Sierra Leone and Guinea, as well as neighboring Liberia — are Muslim. Roughly 73% of Sierra Leone’s and about 85% of Guinea’s people are Muslim. Islam, moreover, is practiced by more than 13% of Liberians.
When Muslims die, family members don’t turn to a funeral home or crematorium to take care of the body. In Islam, death is handled much differently.
Relatives personally wash the corpses of loved ones from head to toe. Often, several family members participate in this posthumous bathing ritual, known as Ghusl.
Before scrubbing the skin with soap and water, family members press down on the abdomen to excrete fluids still in the body. A mixture of camphor and water is used for a final washing. Then, family members dry off the body and shroud it in white linens.
Again, washing the bodies of the dead in this way is considered a collective duty for Muslims, especially in Muslim nations. Failure to do so is believed to leave the deceased “impure” and jeopardizes the faithful’s ascension into Paradise (unless he died in jihad; then no Ghusl is required).
Before the body is buried, Muslims attending the funeral typically pass a common bowl for use in ablution or washing of the face, feet and hands, compounding the risk of infection.
Though these customs are prescribed by Shariah law, they’re extremely dangerous and should be suspended. Mosque leaders must step in to educate village Muslims about the dangers of interacting with corpses.
Ebola victims can be more contagious dead than alive. Their bodies are covered in rashes, blood and other fluids containing the virus.

(NaturalNews) After watching the testimony of CDC director Tom Frieden (and others) before a congressional committee today, it is abundantly obvious that no official source is going to tell the truth about the realistic danger of an exploding Ebola outbreak in the United States. Under the leadership of Frieden, the CDC has reached a state of delusional denial that staggers the mind, continuing to insist that Ebola cannot be spread through indirect contact (i.e. via contaminated surfaces).
The droning mantra of the CDC has now become, “We will consider any options that help reduce risk to Americans.” Yet somehow those options do not include air travel isolation — a fundamental tool in halting any pandemic outbreak.
The official CDC / government position
The U.S. government has gone from saying that Ebola won’t ever come to America to saying Ebola is now in America but is completely under control. Now that the virus keeps infecting surprising numbers of new victims, the new spin offered in today’s congressional testimony is, “American will not experience a serious Ebola outbreak.”
With the CDC leading the blind charge, the U.S. government has now officially adopted a position of quack science denial of reality. It is now perfectly clear to everyone who understands the principles of virology and disease outbreaks that every claim and assurance now uttered by the CDC must be immediately assumed to be a half-truth. Unlike with the hoaxed swine flu pandemic where the CDC was madly hyping up a largely fictional pandemic in order to create demand for more vaccines, the CDC is now fully invested in “downplay” mode, resorting to denials and obfuscations instead of the exaggerations we’re used to hearing from the CDC.
This increasingly convinces me that this Ebola outbreak is not only very real but actually far worse than we are being told. “Never believe something is true,” the saying goes, “until the government officially denies it.” And today, the CDC is adamantly denying that the Ebola outbreak taking place in America right now is any problem at all.
Why I’m thankful for frontline CDC workers even though I strongly disagree with CDC leadership
I want to clarify that my criticism of the CDC is solely directed at the CDC leadership and not the rank-and-file CDC scientists and workers who are legitimately trying to save lives. They deserve our thanks and support for working extremely long hours in their attempts to halt this pandemic, even if they have been misled by their employer and not told the truth about the origins of this Ebola strain.
Sadly, these people are working under the leadership of a government department that seems to deliberately want Ebola to spread. Why else would the agency still refuse to recommend BSL-4 biohazard gear for all medical staffers treating Ebola patients? Why else would the CDC continue to ridiculously insist that Ebola cannot be spread via contaminated medical gear or surfaces? The agency’s foolish clinging to the exclusivity of the “direct contact” theory of Ebola transmission is already proving disastrous. How long will it take for the CDC to finally admit that its direct contact theory is flatly false?
Because of the delusional state of CDC leadership right now, it’s worth exploring independent projections of the Ebola outbreak that has already begun. Below, I offer my own best estimates on what we’re likely to face from Ebola in the years ahead. All such projections are, of course, subject to change if circumstances change or if new advances are made in the prevention or treatment of Ebola.
Duration of preparedness supplies
Based on what we’ve learned over just the last few days, I am updating my recommendations for isolation self-reliance storage supplies to a minimum of 42 days (six weeks). This means that all the supplies you need for day-to-day consumption must be gathered in sufficient quantities to ride out a six-week mandatory quarantine in your own home.
Naturally, 42 days is a bare minimum and you would be far smarter to cover yourself and your family members for a period of 90 days, 180 days or even longer.
These supplies should include food, water, medicine, emergency power needs, heating and cooling, pet food supplies and so on. Water is often the most challenging for families because of the enormous quantities needed. I like to recommend 4 gallons per person per day, but in a pinch you could survive on half that. This means that a family of four needs, at bare minimum, about 250 gallons of water per month (and that barely covers basic hygiene and cooking needs). So a six-week supply of minimum water needs is roughly 375 gallons, or about 7 of those large 55-gallon barrels full of water.
If you’re lucky, the public water supply might still function during a serious outbreak, in which case you can get by with a high-quality water filter. Based on my recent laboratory testing, the gravity water filter that removes the most toxic elements is the Big Berkey with both the ceramic elements on top and the arsenic / fluoride elements attached below. In this configuration the Berkey filters also remove significant quantities of uranium, strontium, aluminum and other elements (I’ll be sharing actual ICP-MS laboratory results soon).
When planning for supplies, don’t forget all the pandemic medical supplies you’ll need: bleach, full body isolation suits, full face respirators, latex gloves, plastic sheeting, duct tape and so on.
Chance of CDC and western medicine halting Ebola in the USA
I currently estimate a 1 in 4 chance of the CDC and U.S. health authorities successfully preventing any “serious” Ebola outbreaks in America. By “serious,” I mean a ten or more people infected in a single region.
This means I currently believe there is a 75% chance that we will see an outbreak involving at least 10 people in the United States sometime within the next 24 months.
I do believe, however, that the current Dallas outbreak will be controlled. Perhaps I’m being overly optimistic in that, considering all the hundreds of people who have potentially been exposed via air travel, and I’ll watch closely over the next 42 days to see how many additional infections (if any) might have taken place.
Of course, there’s always a possibility that infections have already spread to more than 10 people from the Dallas outbreak, but we won’t even know for six more weeks. That’s because we now know the incubation period for Ebola is really 42 days, not the 21 days we’ve all been told by the CDC.
In other words, every time there is a new infection identified, the clocks starts ticking on a 42-day countdown. If no new infections are reported during that 42-day countdown, then we can be confident the virus did not spread.
It is worth noting that James Wesley Rawles, former U.S. Army intelligence officer and founder of http://www.SurvivalBlog.com also predicts the CDC will be unable to stop Ebola from sooner or later spreading across America. Like me, Rawles believes the most substantial long-term threat comes from the likely spread of Ebola in Central or South America from which it would then rapidly spread to North America via uncontrolled border crossings.
I continue to believe this is the most likely scenario that would overwhelm the U.S. medical system and lead to the uncontrolled spread of Ebola across U.S. cities.
Timing of serious outbreaks across the United States
If you review the spread of Ebola in Liberia and Sierra Leone, you realize it took less than one year for Ebola to go from a handful of people to infecting over 10,000 per month.
With this strain of Ebola, which may have been weaponized, the time required to go from a very small number of infections to over one million infections, according to CDC computer modeling, is barely over a year (13 – 15 months).
Of course, we were repeatedly told that the USA has “first world hospitals” and advanced medical technology, so Ebola can’t spread in the USA. But it did spread in precisely the way we were told it wouldn’t: among medical staff working in a “first world hospital” in Dallas.
Now we’re told, “America is not Liberia,” implying that Ebola somehow won’t infect people from rich nations. But it’s an idiotic statement. Ebola doesn’t care about your economic status or nationality, and it can’t tell the difference between a Liberian and an American. Bluntly stated, Ebola doesn’t check your passport before deciding to infect you.
In many ways, in fact, America is MORE vulnerable to Ebola than Liberia:
• America has a higher population density
• Americans travel more frequently than Liberians, creating more opportunities to spread a pandemic
• Americans are more immunosuppressed from mass medications
• Americans are more psychology invested in a state of denial, believing that Ebola can’t possibly infect them because that’s what the American government keeps telling them
12 – 24 months
For these reasons, I think a serious, uncontrolled outbreak of Ebola in America would emerge 12 – 24 months following a serious uncontrolled outbreak of Ebola in any Central or South American nation (such as El Salvador or even Mexico). On the positive side, however, if Ebola can be prevented from taking hold in Mexico or any countries to the south, there is a very strong chance it can be substantially kept out of the continental United States.
If Ebola spreads uncontrolled across the United States and isn’t halted with some extraordinary intervention (medical or otherwise), I estimate the number of fatalities could reach 30 million in a worst-case scenario, which would take several years to unfold and “burn out.” That’s roughly 10% of the U.S. population, and I must emphasize this is a worst-case scenario, not the most likely scenario.
I also realize that some will argue that this number is not nearly high enough for a worst-case scenario. If Ebola has a 50% – 70% fatality rate, they would argue, then an uncontrolled infection across the United States should produce 150+ million fatalities. But that assumes a 100% infection rate and also that the virus maintains its high fatality rate. Usually when viruses mutate to become more successful at spreading, they become less likely to kill their hosts. So we are likely to see a fatality rate significantly lower than 50% if this virus is given more opportunities to spread and mutate.
My “worst case” estimate of 30 million people comes from the formula of a 20% fatality rate with the infection of 150 million people over a period of several years.
