The Middle East has apparently not yet finished shifting and realigning for the near term.
The ouster of Mahmoud Morsi, the Muslim Brotherhood’s Egyptian president, and his replacement with the anti-Muslim Brotherhood al-Sisi represented a public and dramatic shifting of alliances in the Middle East. Both Egypt and Israel distrust Hamas more than they mistrust each other. Turkey is no longer friends with Egypt, but may be moving closer to its erstwhile competitor for regional hegemon, Iran. Saudi Arabia mistrusts Shia Iran more than it mistrusts Israel, and then along came ISIS and scattered the dice yet again.
ISIS is a very serious threat to Saudi Arabia, as it already has acquired a swath of Iraq, which is to the Kingdom’s north. And ISIS is a threat to Iran, as it has acquired a swath through Syria, which abuts Iran.
Now ISIS has begun threatening not only Lebanon, where it at least temporarily captured a city, but the foremost terrorist group on the planet is now breathing down tiny Jordan’s neck, and that isn’t good for anyone in the region.
According to journalist Eli Lake, Even before the ISIS offensive in Iraq, supporters of the group had tweeted maps showing the city of Ma’an in southern Jordan, as part of a regional Caliphate. Last week, a photo from Ma’an showed ISIS supporters holding a banner declaring the city, “the Fallujah of Jordan,” comparing it to the city in Western Iraq fell to ISIS in January.
There are some reports that Jordan is already relying on Israeli intelligence regarding ISIS.
“There is a very good cooperation between us regarding ISIS’ growing presence in Iraq and Syria, but also on issues relating to other radical forces in the Middle East which have their sights set on Israel and Jordan,” a Jordanian diplomatic source told YNet.
Meanwhile, the not terribly reliable Russian news source Press TV reported that ISIS is actually a creation of Israel, the United States and Saudi Arabia.

Israeli Politician Humiliates Obama

Israeli parliamentarian and coalition member Ayelet Shaked went where no mainstream media outlet dared to go. She called out Obama’s failure to understand the real danger facing the Middle East and threatening the free world.
Obama stated in an interview with NBC news that “the problem for Sunni states in the region, many of whom are our allies, is not simply Iran. It’s not simply a Sunni-Shia issue,” he added. “Sunni extremism, as represented by ISIL, is the biggest danger that they face right now. And with that understanding, it gives us the capacity for them to start getting more active and more involved.” This means that the commander in chief believes that countries like Saudi Arabia and Jordan are more worried about ISIS than a nuclear Iran.
Ayelet Shaked of the Jewish Home party called out Obama taking to her Facebook page saying that it is “unimaginable that the US President thinks that several thousand terrorists riding around on pickup trucks is more dangerous than Iran as a nuclear power all because of two YouTube videos.” Shaked continued: “ISIS is is a dangerous organization and needs to be confronted in an all-out war, but to dismiss the Iranian threat on their account?” She then pointed out that Iran is at the threshold of becoming nuclear powerhouse and at the same time is sponsoring terrorism throughout the Middle East. Shaked then noted that the “Government of Iraq, while fighting ISIS cried out for help before they began their journey of conquests and Obama refused. Better late than never.”
Its hard to disagree with Shaked’s assessment. ISIS is gruesome, cruel, barbaric and their beheadings are grizzly but how powerful are they really? Especially compared to Iran? Let’s compare the two shall we: Iranian sponsored terror has created Hizbullah, Hamas and is responsible for virtually all unrest in Iraq during operation Iraqi Freedom. resulting in the death of 4,486 U.S. service members.
Now let’s take a look at ISIS’s scorecard. They have primarily massacred unarmed, defenseless Christian and Kurdish civilians as well as several western journalists.
Let us have a look at military capability:
The Iranian military boasts 425,000 personnel respectively. The Islamic Republic of Iran army has 350,000 personnel, the Islamic Republic of Iran Navy has 18,000 personnel, and the Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force has 52,000 airmen flying advanced jet fighters such as the F-14 Tomcat. It has also been confirmed that Iran is one of only five countries that have a cyber army capable of conducting cyber-warfare operations. Iran has also manufactured their own unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), which can be utilized for reconnaissance operations. Most importantly,, they are on the brink of acquiring nuclear warheads.
Let us compare that with the much talked about ISIS. They have may rifles, machine guns, small arms, M-79 rockets, and have seized several armored personnel carriers and humvees. Although they may not have a Cyber-army capable of conducting cyber-warfare operations on an international scale, they do have iphones and the capability of uploading videos to Youtube!
Now who’s the big bad wolf?
Obama’s utter lack of proportionality is consistent with his soft approach to Iran’s nuclear aspirations. This is one of the main reasons that during Israel’s war with Hamas this summer, Israel’s unlikely bedfellows namely Egypt and Saudi Arabia overtly supported Israel in their battle against Iran’s proxy (Hamas). This was revealed when Saudi foreign minister Saud Bin Faisal al Saud said “we must denounce our hatred toward Israel and begin to normalize ties with the Jewish nation”
Its not that they care about Israel, but rather they understand that Hamas is just one of Iran’s proxies trying to destabilize non-Shiite countries in the Middle East like the Muslim Brotherhood did in Egypt.
Obama’s naive statements are heard loud and clear by Israel, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt. Iran couldn’t have elected a more like minded US president themselves. So although it is obvious that Iran is far more dangerous than ISIS, why all the noise over ISIS?
The answer-sensationalism. Watching the beheading of an American journalist on tv is chilling and will shake any normal person to the bone. Here in Israel, we understand the power of sensationalism all too well. That is because the palestinian PR machine exploits sensationalism every time they launch an offensive against Israel. Viewers can more easily relate to footage of an Arab child getting rushed to an ambulance on a stretcher than to hearing reports of hundreds of missiles being launched from Gaza into Israel. These sort of anecdotal images and video clips have led to extremely successful PR victories for the Arabs in both Gaza and Lebanon. It’s human nature. A video of a Muslim beheading western journalists leaves a far scarier image in people’s minds than the same Muslim working behind the scenes to destroy the world with nuclear missiles.
As Shaked pointed out, Obama is getting distracted by Youtube videos. This is reminiscent of previous attempts by the White House to distract the American people with Youtube videos in a futile attempt to deflect blame for the US embassy attack in Benghazi. In case you don’t remember, the White House erroneously blamed the attack on a US embassy in Benghazi, Libya in 2012 on a Youtube video about Islam that nobody in Libya even saw.
As evil and chilling as a death on Youtube may be, imagine the hundreds of thousands of deaths on that same video the day after Iran obtains nuclear weapons.

State Department enters propaganda war with ISIS

The State Department is launching a tough and graphic propaganda counteroffensive against the Islamic State, using some of the group’s own images of barbaric acts against fellow Muslims to undercut its message.
While the department since 2011 has operated a small unit devoted solely to the task of analyzing and countering terrorists’ messaging around the world, that unit – the 50-member Center for Strategic Counterterrorism Communications — has shifted gears in recent months to concentrate more on the Islamic State threat.
The social media presence – on YouTube, Twitter, Facebook and beyond – has started using some potentially risky tactics to go after the militant network, also known as ISIS.
The item grabbing the most attention lately is a shock factor-heavy YouTube video set up as a fake recruiting ad for the Islamic State.
“Run – do not walk to ISIS Land,” the video implores viewers. The video tells recruits they can learn “useful new skills” — like “blowing up mosques” and “crucifying and executing Muslims.” (WARNING: GRAPHIC VIDEO)
Illustrating the sarcastic appeal is an array of bloody images and videos, including of people being crucified, decapitated heads arranged next to each other, and mosques being blown up.
The “ad” ends with the line: “Travel is inexpensive, because you won’t need a return ticket!”
Not everyone thinks the “ad” is an effective tool.
“I just thought it was bizarre,” Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, told Fox News, dismissing the video as a symptom of “press release foreign policy” that is “fundamentally unserious.”
But a State Department spokesperson said the work is vital “given how violent extremists are increasingly exploiting the suffering caused by global conflicts to lure susceptible youth” to join.
“We believe countering our adversaries in this space is critical. We must contest the space by confronting distortion with reality and lies with truth,” the spokesperson told FoxNews.com.
The video is part of the State Department’s “Think again. Turn away” campaign aimed at convincing would-be recruits not to join.
The effort comes as the Obama administration comes under fire from critics who say it waited too long to act against the Islamic State, despite clear evidence the group was gaining a startling amount of territory – and military equipment — in northern Iraq and Syria earlier this year.
“His policy so far has been a policy of containment, not of defeat,” House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Michael McCaul, R-Texas, told “Fox News Sunday.”
But some see the president toughening his tone in recent days. Obama plans to outline his plans to House and Senate leaders on Tuesday, before publicly explaining his anti-Islamic State strategy during a speech on Wednesday.
So far, that strategy has been contained to airstrikes in northern Iraq, assistance for Kurdish and Iraqi security forces and humanitarian aid. Pentagon Spokesman Col. Steve Warren said Monday that 1,192 U.S. troops are in Iraq.
The administration has been criticized before for relying too much on social media to pursue its diplomatic aims.
But in this case, ISIS is considered to run a formidable messaging operation, and the department says it’s trying to offer “alternate perspectives to the misguided ideological justifications for using violence.”
The tough messages coming out of the State Department are a far cry from the ads the department put out after the 2012 Benghazi attack condemning an anti-Islam film that some officials had blamed for the violence. Critics saw the ads as tantamount to an apology from the United States.
The Center for Strategic Counterterrorism Communications, which is running the latest campaign, launched in 2011 to “coordinate, orient, and inform government-wide foreign communications activities targeted against terrorism and violent extremism,” according to the State Department. It runs on an annual $6 million budget, and works to challenge “extremist propaganda in previously uncontested digital space.”
According to a State Department spokesperson, the unit launched a “small pilot English Language Initiative” in late 2013 to counter extremists trying to recruit in the “English-speaking world.” The English-language YouTube channel was launched this past June, producing videos in-house.
The team now puts out its messages in Arabic, Urdu, Punjabi, and Somali, as well as English.
On its “Think again. Turn away” Twitter account, the feed pumps out a slew of news stories highlighting negative headlines about ISIS and other terror groups, including Somalia’s al-Shabaab.
The department is in an uphill battle to compete against the Islamic State’s online reach.
The department Twitter account has roughly 7,000 followers, while the Facebook page has just under 6,000 “likes.” The latest YouTube video has been viewed more than 600,000 times.
But according an analysis by intelligence firm Recorded Future, despite efforts by Twitter to shut down affiliated accounts, as of early September there were still over 27,000 “pro-ISIS accounts” tweeting since American journalist James Foley was beheaded by ISIS militants.
Recorded Future, in collaboration with Sky News, found supporters are creating new accounts almost as soon as their old ones are suspended.

ISIS Domestic Terror Threat Created by CIA and U.S. Military
CIA facilitated 9/11 terrorist visa mill in Saudi Arabia

Eli Lake, writing for The Daily Beast, in other words Newsweek, warns that Americans fighting in Syria may soon return home and pose a serious terror threat.
“The problem, U.S. counter-terrorism and intelligence officials tell The Daily Beast, is that there are just so many jihadists with Western passports traveling to fight in Syria that they worry some of them may slip back into the United States without being detected,” Lake writes.
He then quotes Matthew Olsen, the director of the National Counter-Terrorism Center, who told the Senate Foreign Relations Committee in March hundreds of terrorists have Western passports and they “could return to their home countries to commit violence on their own initiative or participate in al Qaeda-directed plots.”
CIA’s Saudi Visa Mill
Prior to the September 11, 2001, attack the CIA arranged passports and visas for veterans of its covert war in Afghanistan. This was confirmed by the former head of the American visa bureau in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, Michael Springman, who told then BBC journalist Greg Palast in November, 2001, he “was repeatedly ordered by high level State Dept officials to issue visas to unqualified applicants” who were allowed to enter the United States.
“What I was protesting was, in reality, an effort to bring recruits, rounded up by Osama Bin Laden, to the US for terrorist training by the CIA. They would then be returned to Afghanistan to fight against the then-Soviets,” Springman said.
Springman talked about this CIA terrorist visa factory with Alex Jones in February, 2010:
Months before the September 11 attacks Shayna Steinger, a consular official, issued 12 visas to the alleged hijackers at the consulate in Jeddah. A State Department memo states Steinger issued 11 visas to the hijackers, but one additional visa was issued by a second consular officer.
Terrorists Trained by the U.S. Military
Earlier this week, Aaron Klein, reporting for WorldNetDaily, revealed that members of ISIS fighting against the al-Assad government in Syria were trained by U.S. military instructors in Jordan. According to Jordanian officials, the trainees “were first vetted for any links to extremist groups like al-Qaida.”
ISIS emerged from the ranks of al-Qaeda in Iraq and is considered more militant and extremist than al-Qaeda.
Following the attacks of September 11, 2001, it was reported – and subsequently relegated to the memory hole – that a number of the purported hijackers were “trained in strategy and tactics” at the Naval Air Station in Pensacola, Florida, and the Air War College in Montgomery, Alabama, according to Newsweek.
CIA Created Terrorists
The CIA has a long history of hands-on experience with terrorists who have allegedly attacked the United States. Ramzi Yousef, the supposed mastermind of the 1993 World Trade Center bombing and the planned Bojinka attack, was recruited by the CIA and fought with the Mujahideen in Afghanistan.
Ali Mohamed, a major in the Egyptian army recruited by the CIA, “trained most of al-Qaeda’s top leadership – including bin Laden and [Ayman] al-Zawahiri – and most of al-Qaeda’s top trainers. Mohamed taught surveillance, counter-surveillance, assassinations, kidnapping, codes, ciphers and other intelligence techniques,” U.S. prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald told the 9/11 Commission in 2004. “For five years he was moving back and forth between the US and Afghanistan.”
“It’s impossible the CIA thought he was going there as a tourist. If the CIA hadn’t caught on to him, it should be dissolved and its budget used for something worthwhile,” Nabil Sharef, a university professor and former Egyptian intelligence officer, told The Wall Street Journal in November, 2001.
Returning members of ISIS, now hyped as the next wave of domestic terror, are not tourists, either. If, as predicted by a range of offcials, including Rep. Peter King and Sen. Lindsey Graham, ISIS attacks inside America it will be part of a larger plan to expand and extend the war on terror and put the finishing touches on the surveillance and police state in America.
This apparatus is not designed to protect against al-Qaeda or ISIS terrorists. The purpose is to spy on the American people, who are the real enemy, and make certain they cannot effectively challenge the political monopoly of the global elite.
