“Children are being beheaded, mothers are being raped and killed, and fathers are being hung and crucified. Entire Christian and non-Muslim communities are being decimated by the radical Muslim group, ISIS.”
These are the words from reporters out of Iraq. What is our obligation to those under fire from Islamic terrorists? Prayer is good, but not enough. Words of support are welcome, but not enough. What can one do when terrorists are not moved by our prayers or words of support? Our religious obligation is to fight.
We fight because self-defense is a mandate from the Bible. Well, at least a mandate from the Torah, called by many the Old Testament. We fight to defend life. Because life is precious, the ultimate, we must defend it. The very definition of self-defense is permission to kill the one who is coming toward you to kill you. Self-defense is not simply our right to pray or support with words, but do whatever is needed to keep us alive.
Those who are willing to personally die and would rather be butchered so as not to kill their butcher are free to so choose. But no one is allowed to demand or suggest that someone else allow himself to be killed so as to spare the life of the one presently doing murder.
A war to defend and stop those coming to kill you is a moral war. It is called a Just War. And we defend not only ourselves, we defend others. The Bible, the Torah that is, says, “Do not stand idly by while the blood of your brother is being spilled.” We also have permission to kill those coming to rape a woman. The Bible, Old Testament, tells us so in Exodus. It is our obligation.
We have heard from Pope Francis recently that “No war is ever acceptable.” The Catholic college I went to 40 years ago talked about the Just War. My Protestant clergy friends used to agree in the right to self-defense. I call it more than a mere right, like the right to assemble. Indeed, it is a religious obligation, precisely because we venerate the life of those created in the image of God. Innocent life, that is, not the terrorist while terrorizing and killing. He must be stopped.
Pope Francis says that violence is never the answer to violence. However, the justified war is the answer to wanton, barbaric slaughter. It is a religious obligation to eradicate the fire of Evil. Well, at least in the Torah it is.
Sending a papal emissary to Iraq is a nice gesture, but a better gesture is to affirm to the world that it is morally appropriate to physically fight so as to save tens of thousands who will otherwise surely be killed. Tell the world to take up arms. Instill the world with moral confidence to stop the barbarism of the Crescent before more Christian communities are wiped off the face of the earth.
Religion cannot simply be about the next world. It has to care about living life in this world as well. It can’t simply be about lofty spiritual concepts, but a flesh and blood willingness to defend and fight for one’s right to live. It can’t only be about salvation and the Kingdom Come, but defense of the living in His earthly Kingdom here.
Over a million Christians have been slaughtered by those doing so in the name of Islam… in Africa alone. The Church has had a decade to condemn this, and do more than pray. But, up until this week it has been much too silent. Entire Christian communities have been decimated by Islam in the Middle East and parts of Asia; hundreds of women have been raped with glee by young men feeling entitled to do so because the women are “infidels”. Nothing much was said. I hardly remember any protests throughout the last years in front of the White House.
What good is it to boast that one’s hands are pure if such purity allows the bloody massacre of tens of thousands of Christian victims? Before worrying about the purity of one’s own soul, it is important to worry about how one can save the life of his brothers and sisters. Such pacifism may be a comfort to those who wish to be above criticism, doing so at the expense of saving the lives of others. Thank God, the Israelis are willing to fight, physically fight in self-defense against the Islamists, Hamas, who want to destroy them. The Torah does not celebrate pacifism.
We hear very often from the religious community regarding the absolute need to protect the life in the womb, the life of the unborn. Well, how about protecting the life of the already born, the living?
Who will be the Christian religious leader who will boldly assert that it is a Christian principle, a religious obligation, to wage war to defend oneself from merciless attackers? How many more millions of Christians must die at the hands of Islam until a leader arises and says “Love is not only about loving your enemy, but loving your life as well. Love demands that you physically fight for your children, your family and your friends.
I cannot believe that God demands from his devotees that they allow others to kill them. Martyrdom in battle is the best form of martyrdom for a Cause. Leaders should not make others feel morally guilty for physically defending their loved ones.

Muslims Stop Christian Cab Driver, Take Him Out, And Slaughter Him

Muslims in Iraq, all part of the ISIS, stopped a local cab driver, and as soon as they saw the Cross on a Catholic rosary, they knew he was a Christian, and they took him out and shot him to death. The Christian man was driving four Iraqi police officers, and they were all slaughtered alongside with him. His daughter, tears rushing down her eyes, lamented:
They made them all get out and then they killed them. …They shot them all. They found his rosary on the floor of his taxi

Muslims Take 100 Christians, Burn Them Alive, Slit Their Throats, Shoot Them, And Hack Them To Death

Muslims in Nigeria took a 100 Christians and murdered all of them in the most horrific ways, burning them alive, slitting their throats, hacking them to death, and shooting them. They also burned down several churches. As one report says:
The shooting, fire-bombing and slashing of men, women and children in Gwoza, Borno state, as initially the military reportedly fled before an insurgent force backed by international terrorist groups, began at about 4 a.m., producing eyewitness assertions that Boko Haram, which seeks to impose sharia (Islamic law) throughout Nigeria, had taken control of the town of more than 276,000 people. Local residents reportedly said at least 100 people had been killed.
The full magnitude of the attack and the Nigerian military response was unknown as most sources have been forced to flee to Cameroon or Adamawa state, but on the initial day of the assault Pirda Tada, a Christian resident of Saha village, told Morning Star News that Boko Haram gunmen arrived in Toyota Hilux vehicles and motorcycles and attacked houses with Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and fuel-bombs.
“I thank God for sparing my life, but three of my neighbors and members of our church were killed during the attack,” Tada said. “These Christians in our village had their throats slit with knives while their hands were tied behind their backs. Some houses were bombed as the Boko Haram gunmen were chanting, ‘God is great!’ in Arabic.”
Six Christians were killed at Saha village, and the insurgents destroyed houses and shops and burned the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) building in Pegi Barawa village, Tada said. Boko Haram rebels on July 19 had attacked Saha and Pegi Barawa village, near Gwoza; six Christians were reported to have been killed in Saha village.
Francis Mbala of Gwoza confirmed that Boko Haram attacked Saha and Pegi Barawa this week.
“The COCIN church and some houses and shops were burned down,” he told Morning Star News.
Since December, Boko Haram has also attacked in the Gwoza area the villages of Mainok, Barawa, Chinne, Arbakko, Attagara, Ngoshe, Klala, Kunde, Hembe, Gathahure, Klala, Himbe, Amuda, Agapalawa, Ashigashiya, and Chikedeh, Mbala said.
John Gula, a leader in the Christian community in Gwoza, told Morning Star News by phone that 42 Christians were killed at Attagara village; 24 in Agajara; four in Angurva; 20 in Agapalwa; one in Amuda; three in Alavawa; 13 in Chinene; three in Arboko; one in Ashigashiya; and one in Ngoshe.

Muslims in Iraq, all members of ISIS, broke down the door of a Christian home and demanded that the head of the household, Emil, give them $20,000, with these words:
We know where you live, what you do, everything about you, we will find you and kill you
This is the message that they are giving all Christians in Iraq who, as they view, owe them the Islamic jizya tax. Emil was taking care of his father and his wheelchair bound sister, but because of the violence they all had to flee to Lebanon. Emil said:
I want to remain a Christian,” Emil said. “Our religion is about peace, not killing …I look every day for a job, but I don’t know how much longer I can survive
When a Christian man named Rachid, was taking his wife to Mosul to attend physical therapy, ISIS Muslims stopped them and asked him if he was a Christian. Rachid said, “Yes I am,” they then refused him entry into Mosul. Rachid recounted, and lamented the dire situation for Christians:
I thought I would be executed on the spot… I locked the doors of my shop and my house for the last time, and we left. …There is no future for Christians in Iraq anymore. I left everything for my religion, so I have to trust in the Lord that he will take care of us

The ISIS Threat Will Be Used For Homeland Repression
Obama administration will exploit domestic peril to vilify political opposition

With ISIS militants now threatening to attack the United States, the huge domestic anti-terror apparatus that has been built over the last decade will inevitably be used as a tool of homeland repression not to eliminate ISIS terrorists but to target politically active Americans who are adversarial to the Obama administration.
As we have exhaustively documented, domestic law enforcement in the United States has become increasingly militarized in recent years, with police departments across the country purchasing MRAP armored vehicles that were first used to fight against insurgents in Afghanistan and Iraq.
A recent major ACLU report warns that such vehicles are part of a transformation into militarized policing where Americans are treated “like wartime enemies.” Indiana Police Sergeant Dan Downing also recently admitted that the militarization of domestic law enforcement was to deal not with ISIS militants but with returning veterans who are now seen as a homegrown terror threat.
Former Marine Corps Colonel Peter Martino, who was stationed in Fallujah and trained Iraqi soldiers, warned last year that the Department of Homeland Security is working with law enforcement to build a “domestic army,” because the federal government is afraid of its own citizens. Martino was speaking at a council meeting concerning a decision to purchase a BearCat armored vehicle. The purchase of the vehicle was mired in controversy after the city’s Police Chief wrote in an application filing to the DHS that the vehicle was needed to deal with the “threat” posed by libertarians, sovereign citizen adherents, and Occupy activists in the region.
The emergence of ISIS as a genuine threat not just to minority groups in Iraq and Syria but to Americans and the homeland itself, characterized by a recent Twitter campaign under the ominous hashtag #AmessagefromISIStoUS, is a narrative that will be increasingly exploited by the Obama administration to justify further eviscerations of the Constitution as well as a tool to create jingoistic and simplistic appeals to patriotism which will in turn be deployed as a rhetorical weapon to demonize Obama’s most vocal political adversaries as radicals and extremists.
Obama signaled his intent to take this course during an interview with New York Times columnist Tom Friedman, in which the president charged that his critics were in the grip of an “extremist ideology.”
The sheer horror of the atrocities committed by ISIS will make perfect fodder for the mainstream media and the federal government to cite in justifying a militarized crackdown domestically. As we reported back in June, a company that provides video training programs for law enforcement caused controversy by when it asserted in a Facebook post that nobody will complain about militarized police in America or examples of police brutality when the ISIS insurgent group “comes a calling.”
While the Obama administration is increasingly portraying its political adversaries as radicals or extremists, the prospect of ISIS staging attacks inside the United States is simultaneously being pushed by neoconservatives who are eager for another excuse to expand the U.S. military presence in the middle east.
During an appearance on Fox News Sunday, Republican Senator Lindsey Graham invoked the image of “an American city in flames” as a result of ISIS launching a domestic terror attack, calling for a “sustained air campaign in Syria and Iraq” in order to halt the group’s advance.
“His responsibility as president is to defend this nation. If he does not go on the offensive against ISIS, ISIL — whatever you want to call these guys — they are coming here!,” asserted Graham.
His sentiments were echoed by Senator John McCain and Congressman Peter King, who both called for a renewed military campaign in Iraq. McCain said that ISIS militants would inevitably attempt to launch an attack on U.S. soil in the near future.
Of course, the entire debate surrounding ISIS and its perceived threat to U.S. interests both abroad and at home has been largely absent the crucial fact that Washington itself, along with some of its closest allies in the region, was directly responsible for the training, arming and funding of ISIS militants in the first place.
As the Daily Beast’s Josh Rogin documents, “The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), now threatening Baghdad, was funded for years by wealthy donors in Kuwait, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia, three U.S. allies that have dual agendas in the war on terror.”
The White House is also directly responsible for the spread of ISIS militants having backed other rebel groups in Syria which were once allied with and then taken over by ISIS.
Indeed, some evidence suggests that the U.S. even trained some of the Islamists who went on to join ISIS at a secret base in Jordan in 2012.
Aaron Klein was told by Jordanian officials that, “dozens of future ISIS members were trained at the time as part of covert aid to the insurgents targeting the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in Syria.”
Yet another U.S. ally – Turkey – also trained ISIS fighters at a location in the vicinity of Incirlik Air Base near Adana.
While many would support the decision to launch air strikes against ISIS militants in Iraq, it would be naive to think that a group which was empowered as a direct consequence of the WHite House’s policy of supporting jihadists in Libya and Syria, will not be exploited by the administration to create a chilling effect domestically in order to vilify and silence its political opposition in the run up to the 2016 presidential election.
