The St. Louis Weekend Events Guide for Thursday, October 1st through Sunday, October 4th, 2015.

Blues vs Blackhawks: The Blues’ final pre-season game is happening at Scottrade Center against the Chicago Blackhawks. Next Thursday, the season begins with the home opener against the Edmonton Oilers. Come out and see the Blues dominate the Blackhawks on home turf. Ticket prices start at $29.

32nd Annual Belleville Chili Cook-off: My favorite event of the year! This event tops any chili cook-off you’ve ever been to. Over 60 vendors selling everything from plain bowls of chili to Frito bags with chili & cheese to chili cheese dogs and everything in between. Plus fair foods like funnel cakes and ribbon fries. In addition the chili, there is a Chili Chase 5K & Kids Run on Saturday morning. Also the junior idol contest, and finally live music from awesome bands both nights. Friday night, enjoy the Well Hungarians. Saturday is Social Remedy at 2pm and Dance Floor Riot to close the evening. Admission is free.

Food Truck Friday: The final Food Truck Friday of the 2015 season. In addition to over 20 local food and drink trucks including: Lulu’s, Zia’s, Completely Sauced, Pi On The Spot, Urban Chestnut, and more, you will also get to enjoy live music from Auset Music Project. Don’t forget your blanket or lawn chair and you can BYOB if you prefer to bring your own. Get there early, this last event of the season is sure to be packed.

Best of Missouri Market: This 3 day signature garden event hosts over 120 food producers and crafters offering baked goods, fresh and dried flowers, herbs, handcrafted items, baskets, wooden toys, custom jewelry, and more. Enjoy live music from Beth Bombara, Letter To Memphis, and Ladue Mountain Boys. Kids can enjoy a craft corner and fall activities. Admission is $5 for garden members or $12 for adults and $5 for children 3-12.

Six Flags Frightfest: Frightfest begins this weekend at Six Flags. 15 nights of terror every Fri-Sun until Nov 1. This is a fun for all ages event. Enjoy themed scare zones, horrifying haunted attractions, and coasters in the dark. Plus storytelling, fun costumes, interactive shows, and musical entertainment. See your favorite Looney Tune characters, enjoy a Halloween dance party, freak out circus, and more. Admission starts at $46.99. Admission with Slasher Pass which includes all 6 haunted houses: Wrecker’s Salvage, Camp Killamore, Blind Fury, Insanity Alley, Voided Vision, and The Slaughterhouse, is additional.

Taste of Trucktober: Celebrating food on wheels with this mega event, featuring trucks: Sarah’s Cake Shop, Completely Sauced, Taco Truck STL, The Meltdown, Steak Louie, Pyro Pizza, Kona Ice, Qlicious BBQ, and more! Vote for your favorite truck at the event and you’ll be entered to win a Harman Kardon Onyx Studio 2 wireless Bluetooth speaker. In addition to the trucks, there will be live music, karaoke, and fun games.

Backstoppalooza: Head out to Chesterfield for the Taste of Trucktober and stick around after to support Backstoppers Inc, an organization that provides financial aid and other support to the families of Police Officers and Firefighters who lose their lives in the line of duty. The event is a free concert featuring Rattle and Hum KC, the premier U2 Tribute Band with special guest: The Dog’s Breakfast. There will be food, beverages and t-shirts available for purchase to benefit Backstoppers.

Chalk The Loop: This annual event showcases accomplished artists and novices of all ages. Artists create their own chalk masterpieces on the sidewalks of the Delmar Loop with chalk and they are spectacular! Cost for participation in Chalk The Loop is $10 for adults, $8 for students, and $6 for children 10 and under. Come out and check out the art work for free. Participants will be provided with a box of premium chalk from Blick Art Materials and a Chalk The Loop goodie bag.

10th Annual Grove Fest: An outrageously eclectic street festival presented by the Grove Community Improvement District and Urban Chestnut Brewing Company. Grove Fest is family friendly during the day with the Reliance Bank kids and family area offering face painters, puppet shows, a bounce house, live music, pumpkin painting, and more. Our Fashion Village serves as a runway for a fashion show and a stage for the first Grove Fest Drag-Off. Enjoy international cuisine from Grove restaurants plus Urban Chestnut limited edition Grove Fest beer at two biergartens. Enjoy street performers, magicians, hoop performers, musicians and so much more. The traditional Paint-by-Numbers mural returns to make everyone an artist for the day. Also, two words – Human Foosball. Admission is a $5 suggested donation to go right back into the festival and help support the Grove.

13th Annual Augusta Bottoms Beer Festival: A one-day beer tasting event at August Brewery. Taste samples from 2nd Shift, 4 Hands, Alpha Brewing, Augusta, Prison Brews, Public House, Ferguson, Friendship, Kirkwood Brewing Co, Morgan Street Brewery, Heavy Riff, and tons more. GA Admission is $25 in advance or $30 at the door. VIP gets you in at 12pm and is $40 at the door. Admission includes beer tastings, live music from Schmitt & Grin, and commemorative glass. Food from Augusta Brewing Co will be available for purchase.

Oktoberfest at Budweiser Brew House: Enjoy a full day of German beer, music and food at Oktoberfest Live at Ballpark Village, presented by Spaten. This free festival will take place at Budweiser Brew House with elements both outdoor in the Beer Garden and inside the Beer Hall. Get in the Oktoberfest spirit with a 34 oz Spaten Stein which will be available for purchase for $15 with $10 refills. Enjoy live music from The Bolzen Beer Band, appearances by Frauleins and classic German food.

St. Louis Ambush Fan Fest: As the Ambush get ready for their season, they will be hosting a free fan fest event. From 4-6pm, enjoy a block party with music and inflatables for the kids followed by a special showing of the documentary “Whoomp There It Is: The Story of the 1995 NPSL Champion St. Louis Ambush.” Afterwards the Ambush will play an intrasquad scrimmage. The scrimmage will start at 7:15pm with the team playing two 30-minute halves. At the conclusion of the game, an on-field autograph session will run until 9pm. Those attending the Ambush FanFest will have the opportunity to meet players, purchase Ambush merchandise and select the exact location of their seats for season tickets.

Historic Shaw Art Fair: The premier fine art and fine craft fair in the St. Louis area. Roughly 135 top caliber artists and craftspeople from around the country are selected each year to participate in this professionally juried event. The fair showcases a number of different art mediums, including: Clay, Digital, Drawing/Pastels, Fiber Art, Glass, Jewelry, Mixed Media, Painting, Photography, Printmaking, Sculpture, and Woodwork. Visitors and artists will enjoy the festive atmosphere that includes live music, a food court featuring food from many local restaurants, and a children’s art area. Admission is $7 per adult, which is good for both days. Children 14 & under are free with an adult. Bring a non-perishable food item to receive $1 off admission.

Ariana Grande: Previous Nickelodeon actress and famed sneakydDonut licker, Ariana Grande, will be performing in St. Louis on her Honeymoon Tour with special guest Prince Royce. Ariana had the most Top 10 singles of any artist in 2014 with singles including: “Problem”, “Bang Bang” and “Love Me Harder.” While the tour promotes her 2nd studio album, My Everything, she is currently working on her 3rd album titled Moonlight, with her first single “Focus” set to release Oct 30th. Tickets start at $26.50

St. Ann Sunday Food Truck Expo: This is the Grand Finale to another great food truck season. Come out and enjoy live music from the Wild Country Band! Trucks include Wayno’s International Mobile Cuisine, Kona Ice, Mel’s Food Truck, Vincent Van Doughnut, Andrew’s Bayou BBQ, Pyro Pizza, Harvest Xpress, and more. Let’s show these trucks some St. Ann love! We are working hard to make this final event an absolute blast for the entire family.

Jefferson Barracks Fall Car Show: Show off your classic, vintage, antique, or custom vehicle or motorcycle. Misfit Toyz, Car, Truck and Bike Club will offer trophies to the top 25, plus attendance prizes and commemorative dash plaques to the first 100 to register and 50/50 drawings. Music and concessions including brats and hot dogs will be available. Admission is free for all ages. Participants pay $20 to register vehicle, $10.00 to display. Judging is at 2pm.
