Easy Ways to Celebrate Saint Juan Diego is a post by contributing writer Dianna of The Kennedy Adventures.

During Advent, while we wait in anticipation for Christ’s birth, my family dives in to pay tribute to some of our favorite saints. The first few weeks of Advent are jam-packed with saints to celebrate:

St Francis Xavier

St Nicholas

St Juan Diego

Our Lady of Guadalupe

As a family, we keep it simple most months with a coloring page or book. During Advent, we go all in with crafts, activities, printables, and even movies.

Gathering ideas and resources can be a little overwhelming for busy moms. I’ve gathered some of our favorite ways to celebrate — don’t feel compelled to do EVERYTHING. Pick and choose the ideas that work for you.

Crafts to Celebrate Saint Juan Diego

Even if you’re not a crafty momma, for a saint celebration, crafts are an easy way to make the feast day real for your littles.

These ideas are quick and simple, but still have plenty of fun factor for your children.

Because St Juan Diego hails from Mexico, any Mexican themed craft is appropriate. My kids are BEGGING me for these egg carton maracas.

I spied this adorable St Juan Diego sombrero craft — it’s a perfect way to use up some of the million plastic eggs you have in your house. (Surely I’m not the only one!)

I’m a sucker for Christmas ornaments, so this super simple printable St Juan Diego and Our Lady of Guadalupe set is definitely on our to do list. (I’m grabbing some blue glitter for Our Lady!)

A few days before the feast days of St Juan Diego and Our Lady of Guadalupe, we pile up on the floor and make these fun Tilmas to wear.

Foods to Celebrate Saint Juan Diego

What better way to celebrate and learn about a saint than food?

In our home, saint celebrations and feast days are marked with a special dish, either from the saint’s country of origin or that share some connection to the saint’s life.

For Saint Juan Diego, a Mexican feast is perfect. We do a Taco Ring, with Mexican Wedding Cookies for dessert. Delicious!

For more fun, top off your cookies with these Our Lady of Guadalupe Toppers.

Want to spice it up a bit? How about some Chili Chocolate Jello?

A liturgical tea is another way to bring a group together over delicious food to celebrate the saints. This would make a wonderful Catholic playgroup — invite a few of your friends!

We enjoy Glory Stories – audio dramas about our Catholic saints. While we listen and learn, we keep little hands busy with free coloring pages.

I found pages from Paper Dali, Real Life at Home, St Anne’s Helper and Cathfamily with a quick search.

Over at Catholic Culture , you’ll find Mass readings and prayers, along with ideas for celebrating with your family.

I even found a collection of YouTube videos about St Juan Diego and Our Lady of Guadalupe.

Books about Saint Juan Diego

Around our home, we use Catholic picture books to help teach our children about the saints. During Advent, I take a look at the saints that we want to study, then create my list. When we do morning time, we set aside time to learn more.
