The Las Vegas Strip is a magical place which millions of people each year visit to find their fortunes in the casinos by playing slot machines or hitting the tables. How much do you know about the renowned city, well if you would like to expand your knowledge here is a list of interesting and some very weird facts.

Public Drinking

In every film in which Las Vegas is the setting all the characters can be found drinking in public. Is that just a film thing or is that a legal thing in Vegas. Well it turns out there are some expectations, in the city you are allowed to have an open container in public as long as the establishment where you bought your drink allowed to leave the premises with it and your beverage is not in a metal or glass container.

Underworld City

Under Las Vegas there is a secret city, which is inhabited by nearly 1000 people. Buried underneath all the glitz and glamour of the casinos is over 200 miles of infrastructural support and storm drains which support the casino complexes. However some people have fled to live in these places complete with running water, furnished living rooms and makeshift bedrooms.

Michael Jackson

In 2007, the pop icon Michael Jackson had solid plans to build a 50 foot, man walking robot. This would be an exact replica of himself on the desert sands of Las Vegas.

All or Nothing

In Vegas, for some people the bright lights and big casinos can a bit too much and they can get swept away with all the excitement. A British gambler in 2004, Ashley Revell, sold all of his possessions which included all the clothes he owned and bet 135,300 dollars on red for a single spin of a roulette wheel. He then won 270, 600 dollars so he definitely found fortune.

Go Large

In Vegas customers that weight over 350 pounds are able to eat for free at a restaurant called Heart Attack Grill. Well a man actually did suffer a heart attack at the infamous Heart Attack Grill, which probable didn’t help the restaurants reputation.

Vegas Wedding

Many couples elope to get married in Vegas, and Michael Caine himself got married to his wife at the Little Chapel on the Green in Las Vegas. The ceremony took place in January 1973.

Eiffel Tower Replica

As well as being able to take a gondola ride in the Venetian in Las Vegas, there is also ½ scale replica of the Eiffel Tower outside the Paris Hotel. It was originally meant to be a full size but had to be shrunk to ½ due to a nearby airport.

Pre-Planning

An incredibly wealthy business man in 1964 was scared of a possible nuclear war. To combat this he had built a whopping 16,500 square foot mansion underneath Vegas. It came complete with a pull, and gold course.

Land of Dreams

One man took to Vegas to turn his dream into reality which he did by turning 50 dollars into 40,000,000. However later that evening he then lost it all.

Like a Star

The Las Vegas Strip has been announced to be the brightest place on Earth, as it can ever be seen when in outer space.
