Mary’s 5 Star Review

After reading Sweet Filthy Boy by Christina Lauren I had a strong desire to go to Las Vegas on search of a Frenchmen of my own.  This book exceeded my expectations by a billion miles.   I’ve only read one book by this dynamic writing duo.  I loved their first book.  Why haven’t I read more of these books?  I don’t have a clue but I will definitely be reading more from this new series.  It was sweet, hot, adventurous, and it made my heart skip a beat.  I loved that this book started with a bang.  We get to jump right into the heart of this book.  I thought the story was very genuine.  It made me feel all kinds of giddy, blushes and all.

After finishing college and before heading off to business school Mia and her friends head to Vegas for a fun and relaxing time.  What Mia didn’t know is that she would be coming back a changed woman.  While living it up Mia meets a gorgeous and charismatic Frenchmen named Ansel.  She decides to take her friend’s advice and lose herself in him.  I mean there is a reason why they use the phrase “what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.”  For Mia that’s going to be a little lore difficult then she expects with a ring on her finger and not the pinky finger.  Yep, drunken marriage proposals and all.  Fortunately she’s not the only one of her friends that have become betrothed.  Seems that Ansel made Mia a promise to stay married for three months before calling it quits.  With Ansel’s life in France and Mia’s in America how could they possibly make it work?  When an opportunity arises Mia high tails it right onto a plane with Ansel to France.  Maybe a bit reckless but Mia trusts Ansel and is willing to commit to the three months of married bliss that they agreed upon.  Will these two go there separate ways after three months?  Or will their time in the most romantic city prove that they belong together?

I loved how this story traveled two continents.  It shows us what leaps and bounds that Mia and Ansel are willing to go through for each other.  Being together is far from easy.  These two have no idea how complicated thing can get.  But I hand it to them they worked on it.  They both made sacrifices.  All of those leaps and bounds made everything worth while because their intimate and romantic moments were the things love stories are made of.  Now this book had some really great humorous moments.  It played out so well with how they met.  These two definitely will have some great stories to tell to future generations.

If you enjoyed any other Christina Lauren books then you will definitely want to read Sweet Filthy Boy.  If you haven’t read any of their books then this will be the perfect place to start.  I have much love for this book and recommend it to anyone who enjoys any kindhearted romance.

Meagan’s 4.5 Star Review

I may have shed a tear when Christina Lauren’s Beautiful Bastard Series came to an end (this was before I learned two new books will be added to the collection). I was certain their newest series, Wild Seasons, would never live up to the love I have for the Beautiful Bastard Series. The author duo Christian Lauren proved me wrong by once again writing a smart, well-written story with characters that make you laugh and sex scenes hot enough to steam up your reading glasses.

Celebrating the end of their undergraduate college career, Mia and her friends Harlow and Lola head to Las Vegas to let loose. After her fun in Vegas, Mia will head to Boston with her overbearing father to find an apartment and get settled before she starts school for her MBA. Not particularly excited with the idea of moving or school, Mia tries to let go of her worries and enjoy Vegas with her friends. After an evening filled with liquor, sex and questionable choices Mia finds herself in bed with a ridiculously handsome Frenchman. When the dust of the night finally settles Mia and her new man find themselves connected in ways they never imagined.

Ansel is in the US with his friends Oliver and Finn to blow off steam before heading back to his high-pressure job as a lawyer in France. Enchanted with Mia, he’s less concerned about the ramifications of their wild night and more concerned with persuading her to spend her summer with him in France. In a rare moment of spontaneity Mia finds herself on a plane with Ansel ready to spend her summer in Paris.

Ansel was a brilliant character. His boyish charm made me wanted to scoop him up and keep him in my pocket. But oh lord, his toned body and dirty mouth made me want to lock him in my bedroom and throw away the key. I enjoyed how flawed and even a bit complex his character was. He was so confident in Vegas but at times timid and shy in Paris. I think that’s what made Ansel feel so real, which in turn made me love him all the more. At the beginning of the book Mia had little backbone. Her summer in Paris helped her grow and realize she had options in her life besides the course laid out by her controlling father.

I liked that Mia and Ansel’s relationship was flawed. They didn’t live out a fairytale romance in Paris. The flight to France alone had me snorting with laughter as they played out one of the most embarrassing situations imaginable. They had awkward conversations and less than stellar sex. Ansel struggled with being able to spend time with Mia because of his demanding job. Mia fought her disappointment that her summer in France wasn’t filled with lazy days in bed with Ansel. Instead, she tried to understand the situation with his job and found herself exploring Paris alone. When Mia and Ansel found themselves faced with a problem bigger than they ever imagined their reactions were genuine. There wasn’t a quick fix and the turn their relationship took felt authentic. Mia’s actions, though harsh, were justified. Thankfully, Ansel’s reaction to Mia’s decision made my heart sore.

Even though I enjoyed Sweet Filthy Boy I did have some problems. I wish I had been given more information on their background. I wanted to explore the situation with Mia’s father (who truthfully was an asshole) and Ansel’s childhood with his father.  I wondered when and why Mia started stuttering? Although I loved the kink factor (costume play), I thought Mia’s need to get out of her head a tad weak. It was a crutch she used to be able to have sex with Ansel and I felt her need to be someone else should have been explored better. But, besides these few snags I truly fell head over heels for this story and couldn’t get it out of my head for days.

Any fan of Christian Lauren will be pleased that Sweet Filthy Boy (Wild Seasons #1) lives up to the standard set by the Beautiful Bastard Series. Just like their first series we’ll get to see more of Mia and Ansel as the Wild Seasons expands. I would definitely urge anyone looking for a sexy male with a hot accent, wild adventurous sex, and hilarious awkward moments to pick up Sweet Filthy Boy. You will definitely not be disappointed.

Christina’s 5 Star Review

Holy mother of all book hangovers! I have a new book boyfriend. His name is Ansel and he’s French, and OMG…he is delicious.

Mia, along with her friends Harlow and Lola have just graduated from college and are about to take off to Vegas from San Diego for one last big celebration before they all part ways to head off to graduate school. The normally uptight Mia finally decides to let loose after meeting a hot Frenchman, Ansel, and wakes up the next morning married, alongside Harlow and Lola who managed to marry Ansel’s best mates, Finn and Oliver. While Harlow, Lola, Finn, and Oliver quickly realize the gigantic mistake they made, Mia and Ansel decide to try and see what kind of relationship they can build in the six weeks between the time of the wedding and the time she needs to leave to attend graduate school in Boston. Is there really something to there sham of a marriage? Can Mia really figure out what SHE wants out of life, instead of what her father wants for her?

Ansel is meeting up with his Australian and Canadian friends in Vegas to celebrate another year of friendship. The three had worked together on a charity project biking across the US years previous and have met up yearly since they. Normally they have a fourth friend, Perry, but Perry was unable to make it. Ansel sees Mia across the bar their first night in Vegas and is immediately taken with her and when fate intervenes several times and they cross paths repeatedly, a drunken night of debauchery ensues and they wake up hungover and married. Ansel is known for being impulsive, and his feelings for Mia are no exception. He wants her to come back to Paris with him, but he’s trapped in a job he hates where he works a ridiculous amount of hours and has some loose ends in the form of relationship baggage he needs to deal with if he is ever going to make it work with Mia.

To say that I loved this book would be an understatement. This is my first book by the writing duo known as Christina Lauren and I was immediately sucked in from the very first page. The characters were so well developed that I truly felt attached to them and I felt every gut punch right along with Mia. Yes, there were some instalove issues, and some things that were pushing the lines of believability, but knowing that Ansel was as impulsive as he was, made it easier to accept. The book was incredibly well written and boy do they know how to create a character that can sweep you off your feet, with French whispered close in your ear and all. Ansel truly is a book boyfriend to end all book boyfriends! The plot had it’s twists and turns, taking you on an emotional roller coaster ride.

This is an easy five star read. I read it overnight in one sitting because I didn’t want to put it down. Yes, I’m getting a bit old to be reading NA romance, and honestly, Mia was a little on the angsty side, but did I mention I’m smitten with Ansel? I can’t wait to read Oliver and Finn’s stories and certainly hope that Ansel and Mia make an appearance there as well. I wasn’t ready to part with Sweet Filthy Boy; you likely won’t be either.

About The Authors

Lauren Billings (but everyone calls her Lo) has a Ph.D. in neuroscience and before she made writing her full-time job, would spend her days doing nerdy research-type things wearing a lab coat and goggles. She is silly Mommy to two littles, wife to one mountain biking homebrewing scientist, bestie to a shoe-stealer, and an unabashed lover of YA and romance.

Christina Hobbs (but you’ll always hear Lo call her PQ) used to spend her days in a junior high counseling office surrounded by teenagers. Married to the cutest boy in school, she has a thirteen year old daughter, is an unapologetic lover of boy bands and glitter, and also likes to steal Lo’s shoes.
