Summary from Goodreads (here):
Mackenzie Wellesley has spent her life avoiding the spotlight. At Smith High, she's the awkward junior people only notice when they need help with homework. Until she sends a burly football player flying with her massive backpack and makes a disastrous - not to mention unwelcome - attempt at CPR.

Before the day is out, the whole fiasco explodes on YouTube. And then the strangest thing happens. Suddenly, Mackenzie is an Internet sensation, with four million hits and counting. Sucked into a whirlwind of rock stars, paparazzi, and free designer clothes, she even catches the eye of the most popular guy at school. And that's when life gets really interesting...

I have no idea how to start this without fangirling. I remember last year I picked up Decked with Holly because it had a pretty interesting story and seemed like a light fun read. Which it was! And I ended up LOVING IT!! So when I realized that Marni Bates had ANOTHER book published I bought it, ASAP :) and OMG guys Awkward was such a unique and quirky read. I literally inhaled it, from start to finish it would NOT LET ME GO. The story of an awkward and very funny girl that, over a freak accident at school, becomes an internet star was pretty dang interesting to me.

The Story. I can not put into word how much I loved this story! Mackenzie was such an awkward, funny, and strong MC. She was SO relatable to me and then she went through so much that I didn't think she would have gotten out of the situation whole but she did! She changes through the book as her fame grows and starts to lose a bit of herself. But I can't really blame her, fame can get to anyones head, even an awkward girl like her! Then there was Cory & Tim's mini-story (YAY Ready Set is there again :D) AND Kenzie goes on some crazy awesome offers like, the Ellen Show and even recording a SONG! The story never bored me and there's always something around the next corner ;)

Logan. EEK! He started off like a cookie-cutter rich airhead kid jerk (see me no likey at start) but throughout the book & his growing relationship with Kenzie I saw that there was more to him and then we learn his "secret" and I was like aww. I couldn't help but feel for him >_Sometimes you have to see the inside of a person to really know them which i think is the moral/lesson of this story. Then there was Patrick...*shakes head* why?! Great for some romantic tension but ugh, me no likey him from the start!

The Romance. Marni is a pro at this because she makes me believe the romance, no matter how unlikely it may be, and makes me wish for the characters to have a happy ending. BUT (there's always a but) the road isn't always smooth. There were challenges they both had to face and conquer in order to truly be together. In my opinion I like that in a fictional relationship because it means it's really love :D

OVERALL: This was such a LOL fun, light, quirky read that YOU MUST READ IT ASAP! Perfect from when your in a reading slump, or looking for another great contemporary romance filled with fame, rock stars, and, of course, tons of fun awkwardness!

FAVORITE QUOTES:

I've never understood girls who do stuff like scream "ROBERT! OHMIGOD, ROBERT, I LOVE YOU!" at Twilight movie premieres - especially when he smiles back. Come on: he's a guy who claims to "sparkle" in a movie. Lame.

Having gunk on my face felt strange but made it easier to leave the safety of the store. I decided to think of it as feminine war paint or a Halloween mask.

Guys paid attention to me in the hallways, and most of it seemed centered on my new casually sexy look. Either that or I had botched up the eyeliner and everyone thought: Hey, look at Racoon Girl!

THAT'S IT!! WHAT DO YOU THINK? LIKE IT? HAVE YOU READ IT? LEAVE A COMMENT :D
