I got this email today and quite frankly, I don’t get the what the outrage is about. I watched one of the episodes, I didn’t find it to be offensive. I thought it was mildly amusing, which is why I only watched one. The show is supposed to be a comedy; comedies poke fun at things. We have seen in the past that nothing is off limits and thats the way it should be.

Dear Willard,

Last night, ABC aired two episodes of their new show “The Real O’Neals” which is based on the life of one of America’s most hateful, anti-Christian bigots, Dan Savage.

Unfortunately, the show was just as bad as we thought it would be. Aside from not being funny, it went out of it’s way to attack Christians and Christian values.

Please help us send a message to ABC that we find their brand of “humor” hateful and disgusting. Can you imagine the outcry if they created a show that made a mockery of Muslims the way this show attacks Christians? Enough is enough!

Please call Hope Hartman, ABC’s Sr. Vice President of Communications at (855) 242-7422 and tell her ABC should CANCEL this show!

Please be professional and fact-based when calling. We’ve found this to be the most effective way to get our points across.

We compiled some of the most offensive aspects from the show, in case you missed it. More details can be found here.

ABC refers to this highly dysfunctional family as “the perfect Irish-Catholic family.”

If ABC made a show like this about Muslims, it would be considered hate speech.

There were 93 visual or verbal attempts to target Catholics in the first two episodes.

A statue of Mary, one of the most venerated figures of the Christian faith, is kept above the O’Neal’s toilet.

Their first jab at Jesus comes only 52 seconds into the first episode.

The mother pushes for her 16-year-old gay son to “try sex” with a girl.

One of the show’s producers is anti-Christian bigot Dan Savage, and the show is said to be loosely based on his life.

Willard, please take a minute to call ABC and demand they do the right thing and cancel “The Real O’Neals.”

As always, thank you for your support.

Sincerely,

MRC Action
