MUSIC as an art was ever growing and never static. The Trinity of Carnatic Music
Sri Thyagaraja, Muthu Swamy Deekshitar and Sri Syama Sastry were great devotees, poets,
and musicians who gave a fresh life, grammar, and aesthetics to Carnatic Music by their
superb handling of the art. Sri Syama Sastry who is the senior among the Trinity was a genius
composer who has written compositions in praise of Goddess Sri Kamakshi Ambal. Each
composition is rich in musical conception and has lofty imaginations. His compositions
exhibit well polished music, beautiful language, intricate laya patterns, and karuna bhava.
Sangitha, Sahitya and Laya find their best blend. His unique style is a class by itself. Each krithi
is great in its own way and hence stand above comparison.
The sole purpose of conducting Sri Syama Sastry Fest is to preserve, promote and
propagate his rare krithi’s and as a mark of respect to pay him a rich tribute in form of a
National Music festival. Since all his compositions are in praise of Goddess Sri Kamkshi Ambal
wherein she is sacredly worshipped in Kanchipuram as a kshetra deity it has been felt apt to
conduct this festival in Kanchipuram and it would be a befitting tribute to Sri Syama Sastry by
the music fraternity.
Sanathana Sampradaya Sangeetha Bharathi & Nada Bharathi (A Trust dedicated to
Indian Classical Music) a dedicated organizations serving for the cause of classical music with
the sole objective to preserve, promote, and propagate all forms of classical music by
increasing awareness especially amongst the youngsters has already successfully conducted
nearly 1100 concerts which includes monthly, weekly and chamber concerts besides 35
Major week long music festivals so far and is gaining good response from the people in the
twin cities and also within the state and in South India. As a part of our ambitious plans it has
successfully conducted 8 Nadaarchanas with 108 musicians in divyakshetras like
Kanchipuram, Mantralayam for world peace through music not only in India but also
successfully conducted Naadarchana to Lord Balaji in Birmingham, UK.
(SSSBHARATHI Kanchipuram Chapter): SSSBharathi has taken an
initiative to launch its Music activity on a regular basis in Kanchipuram in the month of
January -2016 which is a big stride .This sabha has been started in Memory of Late Sri
Dakshina Murthy Sastry (Affectionately Called As Babu anna). In fact this Gentle man who is a
sthanika of Sri Kamakshi ambal Devasthanam and Also the Descendent of Sri Syama Sastry
Family. The first Syama Sastry Jayanthi Mahotsavam has been initiated with his inspiration.
This Sabha was succefully Inaugurated by Sri Nymili Ehzilmani (Peethadhipathi of Sri Nymili
Bala Peetham. We have conducted three Concerts and a free medical health Check-up and
homeo camp in the name of Sri Dakshina Murthy (Babu Anna) Memorial free homeo medical
camp Conducted by Dr. R.V.Krishna Murthy (from Hyderabad) with soul objective treating
Needy and down trodden Patients freely.
As a part of its continuing efforts we are conducting a special SYAMA SASTRY
NATIONAL MUSIC FESTIVAL FOR SEVEN DAYS (2ND to 7TH MAY, 2016) at Kanchipuram, in the
divine presence of Goddess Sri Kamakshi Temple. On the 7TH May (Which happens to be
Syama Sastry jayanthi day) nearly around 500 noted musicians from South India are singing
“NAVA RATNA MALIKA KRITHI’S OF SYAMA SASTRY IN UNISON” before the goddess
Kamakshi Ambal and in the divine presence of Sri Acharya Swamigal Sri Jayendra Saraswati
Swamigal and Sri Vijayendra Saraswathi Swamigal. This festival has been successfully
conducted in 2013, 2014 and 2015 and the current festival will be the fourth in succession.

There Will be a Special Procession of Sri Syama Sastry Pancha LOha Vigraham From Sri
Kamakshi ambal Devasthanam To Sri Parama Charya Brindavanam via Thiru Mada Streets
There will be Navaratna Goshti Ganam of Sri Syama Sastry Compositions in
Unison in the Divine Presence of Sri Acharaya Swamigal followed by Anugraha bhashanam
by Sri Acharya Swamigal.
All the vidwans will assemble in the Sringeri Kalyana mandapam for the
honours and valedictory function followed by Prasadam to all.
