On Monday morning, comedian Marc Maron, host of the popular “WTF with Marc Maron” podcast, welcomed the President of the United States to his show.

Maron’s show, which has delighted listeners for more than 600 episodes, has become legendary for its casual tone and Maron’s gift for getting guests to open up about subjects they may have never previously discussed.

Though Obama didn’t reveal any personal depth that he hasn’t already discussed in the past, he did provide an extremely entertaining hour of audio that will delight any political or comedy junkie. Despite several notable moments in the podcast, including a frank discussion of the many things that Republicans and Democrats agree on, President Obama was recorded using the n-word in conversation.

During a discussion about racism in America, President Obama used the word “nigger” to explain to Maron how Americans are not cured of racism.

“Racism, we are not cured of it. And it’s not just a matter of it not being polite to say nigger in public,” Obama said.

Shortly after the episode was released, the White House released a statement, reminding the country that the president had used the word before.

“Truth is he uses the term about a dozen times in Dreams from my Father,” White House Deputy Press Secretary Eric Schutlz said.
