For one special day in September of this year, Brooklyn will find a way to take you back into time.
On Wednesday, several performers were announced for the first-ever 90s Fest, a Williamsburg-based festival that celebrates all things from the decade that brought us Pogs, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and of course, Total Request Live.
For nine glorious hours on September 12, 90’s kids of all ages will be able to jam along with several popular music acts from the era, including Naughty by Nature, Lisa Loeb, Smash Mouth and Coolio.
Also entertaining the crowd will be pop-rockers Tonic (“You Wanted More” from the American Pie soundtrack is still one of my faves!), the surviving members of Blind Melon, and what is being deemed as the “freshest” cover band ever, Saved by the 90s with the Bayside Tigers.

Former MTV VJ Pauly Shore (“buuuuud-dy…”) will overlook the festivities, which will include a chance to win a 90’s-themed bedroom (think lots of Lisa Frank-esque designs and Tiger Beat posters), an awesome Mario Kart tournament (the first in the series, Super Mario Kart, was released on the SNES in 1992), and a group attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the most people doing the Macarena.
No word on what will be served for refreshments, but one of the producers for the event, Marc Weinstein of Leuven Media, joked that the possible return of Crystal Pepsi might allow them to “offer Crystal Pepsi-based cocktails to our guests in VIP as well.”
Tickets go on sale today, and range anywhere from $65 (for general admission) to $150 (to possibly enjoy that clear-colored Pepsi in the VIP area). Head on over to the official site for more info!
I wonder if I can still fit those “Hammer Pants” I had…
