BMW E36 M3 Tarmac Rally Car For Sale – Very reluctant sale, but new project underway!

This is undoubtedly one of the best known and most successful M3’s in the UK, having been regularly featured on tv coverage of the UK Asphalt Rally Championship, where it’s had top 10 overall finishes, many class awards and won the RWD Championship outright in 2012 (checkout the names that finished behind us – Simon Mauger, John Indri etc etc).

For a car that costs less than £20k, it regularly beats Escorts, Darrians and all the other RWD machinery that costs from £50k – £100k.

Also you don’t need to be Sebastien Ogier or Elfyn Evans to drive it. You’ll see plenty of cars advertised as – “will be quick in the right hands”, well I’m not Seb Ogier and I can win in this car, so as long you’ve got half an idea what you’re doing, you could win in it as well. You wont find a better value car for your money. It’s also cheap to run, as a lot of the parts are standard.

If you want more info, or are interested in coming to have a look, then you can contact me on 07808 094390. But please, no enquiries from outside of the UK, or from any timewasters – I don’t want to waste your time, so I given a very comprehensive description of the car, so please don’t waste my time if you’ve got no intention or not got the means to buy it! Enough said.

Here’s the Spec

BMW E36 M3 Tarmac Rally Car with full MSA logbook

This is a proper Rally Car, developed and improved over several years. It’s not just a road car with a cage bolted in that you often see at single venue rallies. This is built to win at the highest level – and that includes Isle of Man, Ireland, Epynt, Otterburn, Jim Clark etc etc.

Shell:

Based on a 1996 E36 323 coupe, All the M3 plates added (genuine M3 parts) and excess weight removed where possible. The car has almost perfect 50/50 front/rear balance – she fly’s dead level.

Proper Sparco weld in FIA cage with triangulation to the front and rear struts. Gusseting to windscreen pillars & plenty of cross bracing.

Strut Brace to front struts.

Additional strengthening of all the main suspension mount points.

Rear spare wheel well removed, which saves weight, gives better access to the diff, whilst still allowing 2 spares to be carried in the boot if required.

Fibreglass bonnet.

Proper M3 front bumper / spoiler.

Mega sumpguard that’ll take almost anything (although the suspension ride height is set so the car wont bottom out after landing from big jumps).

Lightweight Alloy TankGuards.

Steel Chassis Engine mounts (not the standard BMW ones that break over big jumps).

Roof Vent to keep Driver and Co-Driver cool inside.

Mud flaps all round to MSA Regs.

Suspension & Steering:

AVO 3 Way adjustable suspension. Coilovers all round. Fully height adjustable. This suspension has been developed directly with AVO. It has 50mm front struts – the big ones! and other tweaks to make it more durable. Without spending silly money, this is the best suspension for this car.

Front cross member fully strengthened.

Poly bushed m3 lower front wishbones with extra castor.

Larger front anti roll bar with poly bushes.

Z3 Quickrack 2.75 turns lock to lock, with new steering rack ends and track rod ends.

Rear Suspension has fabricated top arms as the big standard ones design to accommodate the springs are nolonger needed & in-situ adjustable bottom arms so the camber is fully adjustable on the rear.

a.i.tech works spec wheel studs & copper coated nuts

Engine:

E36 M3 engine with ARP conrod bolts, M3 baffled sump with 3.2 evo oil pump with duel pickup, Samco coolant hoses and full custom engine remap. Basically around 300bhp from a standard engine!

CDA carbon air filter with cold air feed.

Electric cooling fan.

6 branch tubular m3 manifolds with flexi joint removed, Lightweight decat supersprint exhaust and Scorpion back box, sounds awesome and over 20kg lighter than stock system.

M3 3.2 Evo large rear axle, fully power flexed diff cradle and trailing arms, Proper rear adjustable camber arms and the later larger driveshafts (not the 3.0 ones that regularly break).

Diff Cradle & Mount upgraded with additional strengthening.

Rear Diff “Boomerang” mount fully strengthened.

BMW Motorsport LSD with 4.4 Ratio CWP. This CWP was pretty expensive, but it was worth it as it gives the car ideal ratios with a top end speed of about 127mph.

Brakes:

The brakes on this car are Epic, you wont believe how good they are until you go in it!

Front – 4 pot Modulo calipers (same as Brembo) with brilliant Mintex pads (we tried lots of alternatives
