Raise Your Hand Texas has curated technical assistance resources to support Raising Blended Learners teams as they develop and implement their blended learning plans. On our Raising Blended Learners Portal you can access guides, courses, research, and activities on blended learning topics such as professional learning, digital content, school finance, and more.

Raise Your Hand Texas updates the portal regularly so you can stay connected to the most up-to-date blended learning resources. Twice a month, we’ll highlight some of the best content, here, on our blog.

New Resources

In April, iNACOL hosted a webinar on competency-based education which included a discussion of the working definition for competency-based education, as well as practitioner examples of competency-based education in practice. You can also find it on the Portal, with Competency Education Multimedia resources, here.

The Alliance for Excellent Education, the National Center for Learning Disabilities (NCLD), and the National Council of La Raza (NCLR) held an event in May to launch their newest report. Their study, Personalized Learning: Meeting the Needs of Students with Disabilities and English Learners, was based on a year-long process in which researchers explored best practices for including students with disabilities and English learners in personalized learning. The LEAP Learning Framework for Personalized Learning addresses what personalized learning looks like in terms of teacher practice, and how the student experience will change. Included in the framework are strategies for each core component of a learner-centered approach to better help educators create personalized learning experiences for students. In the Maximizing Ed Tech’s Reach in Rural School Districts webinar, Matt Akin, the Superintendent of the Piedmont City School District in Alabama, shares the strategies he has used in his rural district to increase opportunities and personalize learning for students.
