2014-03-18

We’re all different shapes and sizes, we all have different tastes and wedding dreams. So how do you define a year into one trend? You just can’t!  So here is our pick for the top 10 trends for 2014.

SOFTER, SWEETER TONES

Blushing brides make you think of a sweet and soft colour palette.  Neutrals, peaches, blushes and soft pinks are back!  The bold purples and sophisticated blacks and whites will take a backseat to the more romantic and delicate hues.

Many brides will be wearing pink wedding dresses this year.  Soft but a little different, pink dresses keep with the romantic theme.  Big-name wedding dress designers like Vera Wang have already shown gorgeous pink dresses on the runway. Romantic and classic, this ball gown combines a lace scoop neckline with cap sleeves while Swarovski crystals accent the waistline. This look is just right for this year!

ILLUSION NECKLINE

This bridal season has seen all designers showing the illusion neckline, it’s a soft and elegant way to wear straps that don’t weigh you down. Think a sheer layer sitting snug against your chest with intricate detailing scattered throughout. This particular gown is slinky and sultry but we’re seeing this neckline on all silhouettes this year.

METALLIC

Gowns in regal gold and rich silvers are all the rage, and for good reason – gold and silver are unique shades for wedding dresses, but don’t stray too far from the bridal look – they’re still quite elegant and regal. Plus, they’re quite flattering on most skin tones.

SOFT & ROMANTIC

This silhouette is stunning if you’re after an elegant chic look. Tulle mermaid wedding dresses that fit snug around the seat, flattering that beautiful hourglass figure. This gown is embroidered with Chantilly and guipure lace appliques and crystal gemstones. A round neckline with camisole at the front and straps at the back. Silver and pearl gemstone embroidery below the bust. Cascade of applique from bodice to skirt.

FISHTAIL

We’re still seeing this silhouette, and for good reason, it’s just so damn flattering! For the girl who wants the fullness in a skirt that only a wedding can provide, but still able to show off your rocking curves! This gown features pleated tulle across the bodice with a strapless neckline created with feathers. The skirt billows out from the mid thigh with soft raw cut organza. An organic contrast to the structured bodice of the gown. Stunning!

ENCRUSTED

For the glamourous bride who is looking for a gown fit for the red carpet. Slinky and sophisticated this trend takes beading to the next level. All over intricate work, we’re seeing pearls, crystals and sequins entwined into the most spectacular patterns. Art Deco designs, soft florals and leafy designs. Shimmer and glisten in an encrusted slinky gown!

FULL SKIRT

For the fantasy bride dreaming of a full skirt! The princess silhouette will always be a bridal trend! This year we’re seeing heavily structured bodies with exposed boning and heavily beaded detail. Pair this with a soft and romantic raw cut organza skirt, fluffy and full! We love! We’re also seeing the classic ten-layer tulle gowns and of course the timeless box pleat satin gowns.

THE MODERN BRIDE

The modern bride on top the latest trends, wanting to wear a gown that is so effortless and so chic. The silhouette is standalone and sophisticated. Our favourite gown for the modern bride at the moment is the Vesna with it’s glamourous geometric patterned Guipure lace. This Art Deco column sheath gown with it’s heavy lace has beautiful movement and hugs the figure.
