HEAT WAVE EDITION
Now that the temperature is topping 100 degrees, it's time to search out the clubs with the best air conditioning. The Echo is always cold and The Satellite is usually pretty good , unless it's packed wall to wall. And The Satellite, bucking a recent dry spell, has some good shows this week.
Fourth Fridays With Mary and Eli is going on at Pehrspace (on Friday, duh), as part of an effort to bring attention to the venue's search for a new location. Like The Smell, they have been served with an eviction notice, and any help is appreciated. Polartropica, Moomaw and the disarming Dawn of Sequins will perform. They state it well on their event page: "Dear Pehrspace, we love you dearly. The future may be uncertain but this will be a wonderful show. Yeah!"
It's too hot to write... highlights inside.

Ilegal Mescal Music Series w/ Forebear, Cody Hudock, Rachel Goodrich @ Harvard & Stone
DECISION:
A few favorites of mine are on the bill for tonight's Ilegal Mescal Music Series. Mixing jazz and classical for a unique sounding form of indie the band Forebear is strikingly inventive. Singing falsetto can be tricky, but Scott Goldbaum handles it with ease. Cody Hudock is a band that never fails to please me with the precision and professionalism of their performance, and piano driven rock always has an edge with me. And Rachel Goodrich is one of the best of our female singer/songwriters out there in the rich tradition of folk greats of the 60s and 70s. They're all together at Harvard & Stone.
The Satellite has the Steady Holiday residency this month, tonight is hosted by BuzzbandsLA and is featuring an RFSL favorite Willoughby and with Ryan Golden Kirkpatrick also.
