WLRN To Operate NPR For Palm Beaches

Following the sale of Classical South Floridas stations to Educational
Media Foundation, 91.3 WLRN Miami has come to an agreement to retain the
Public News/Talk programming on 101.9 W270AD/WFLV-HD2 West Palm Beach.
Currently branded as WPBI News, the station will be relaunched as 101.9,
NPR For The Palm Beaches as WLRN leases the HD2 and translator from EMF.
WLRN is owned by the School Board of Miami-Dade County and also operates
WLRN-TV Miami, 91.5 WKWM Key West and three translators serving the
remainder of the Florida Keys. Following the demise of Classical South
Florida, WLRN launched a Classical programming service

Nielsen Sues Bubba The Love Sponge Over Ratings Manipulation

Following Bubba The Love Sponges confession to paying a listener to keep
his PPM device on his show, Nielsen is suing the syndicated radio host and
his Bubba Radio Network for a minimum of $1 million in damages. The suit
states that Bubba was approached by a listener that an acquaintance had a
PPM device leading to offering to pay said person $300 per month to help
increase his ratings and with bonuses up to $400 per month if a target
result was reached. The suit mentions that Bubba purchased additional
radios for the panelist. He sent texts stating that

Cumulus Fires Atlanta Morning Host For Recycling Trump Interview

Cumulus News/Talk Newsradio 106.7 WYAY Gainesville, GA/Atlanta has
dismissed morning co-host Steve McCoy one day after suspending him for
recycling an old Donald Trump interview and passing it off as new. On
Tuesday McCoy aired an interview with Trump that he told listeners was
recorded on Monday. After Trump staffers indicated no interview took place,
McCoy admitted that he used an old interview. Cumulus originally suspended
McCoy over the incident but has now turned around and let the host go.
