Where to donate while you shop.

According to the National Retail Federation, 137.4 million people in this country are expected to shop Black Friday sales, of which there are certainly plenty. The “holiday” Giving Tuesday, now in its fifth year, is meant to offset that consumption through donations, activism, and volunteer work on November 29th.

But a lot of brands aren’t waiting for the weekend to pass to begin donating a portion of their sales — or in Patagonia’s case, all of their sales — to non-profits and charities. See the list below for what’s starting today. Keep checking back, as we’ll be updating this throughout the weekend, and leave any tips in the comments.

If you just want to donate — minus the shopping — here’s a list of organizations that could really use your help right now, from the American Civil Liberties Union to Black Lives Matter to Planned Parenthood and more.

Patagonia
Today, 100% of global sales from Patagonia stores and its online shop will support grassroots environmental organizations. (See more details here, along with a list of environmental groups in your area.) The brand always donates 1%, so this is a HUGE step up.

Cuyana
For every purchase online, the brand will donate a new “essential” product from its own collections to its charity partner H.E.A.R.T. (Helping Ease Abuse Related Trauma). Cuyana is also encouraging shoppers to donate clothing to its San Francisco, LA, New York, or Chicago stores through November 29th. (More details here.)

Bario Neal
100% of the proceeds from the jewelry brand’s “Shop the Stack Sale” on Instagram and Facebook will be donated to the ACLU, American Immigration Council, Planned Parenthood, EarthJustice, and NextGen Climate.

Thinx
Enter the code THINX4WTA at checkout, and $5 from each pair of Thinx underwear will be donated directly to Women Thrive Alliance, a global community of women's rights and gender equality activists and organizations committed to amplifying the voices of women and girls in policymaking spaces.

Building Block
Throughout the rest of November, the brand is donating 40% of all online orders to The Center for Constitutional Rights, a non profit legal and educational organization dedicated to advancing and protecting the rights guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Apiece Apart, Creatures of Comfort, Rachel Comey, and more
Apiece Apart has enlisted a handful of women-led brands to donate 5% of sales from this holiday weekend to Planned Parenthood. Participants include Ace and Jig, Apiece Apart, Creatures of Comfort, Electric Feathers, Kathleen Whitaker, Jesse Kamm, Lauren Manoogian, Maria Cornejo, Maryam Nassir Zadeh, Rachel Comey, Ulla Johnson, and Clare Vivier.

FEIT
The New York City-based shoe brand is partnering with local charities It’s From the Sole and The Bowery Mission by accepting donations of gently worn shoes at its West Village and Soho stores, through December 10th. A percentage of sales made through this time will cover the cost of repairing and refurbishing the shoes before they’re given to someone in need. Customers who donate will also receive 25% towards off your purchase. If you’re not in New York City, you can also donate a pair of shoes here.

Athleta
Athleta is currently collecting donations for its charity partner Girls on the Run, at each of its locations (all donations will go to the local chapter near the store). On Tuesday, November 29th, online shoppers will also be able to donate as well. (More details here.)

Uniform
The clothing brand — which donates a school uniform to a child in Africa with every purchase — is matching that donation through Monday, November 28th, to provide two uniforms with each purchase made. (More details here.)

Echo
For every cold-weather item purchased on the accessory and home brand’s website through Christmas Eve, a comparable item will be donated to teens transitioning out of foster care through the non-profit organization Together We Rise.
