Lacrosse Wins $10,000 Feature At 141 Speedway During Clash At The Creek V
by Chris Janda
(Francis Creek, WI) July 24– In the first part of the 50 lap feature event Brian Mullen of Seymour took the lead on the opening lap with DePere’s Johnny Whitman in second. Jason Czarapata of Pulaski and Green Bay’s Benji Lacrosse battled for third early on. Mullen stretched his lead over the rest of the field and worked through lapped traffic until the half way point on lap 25. Whitman was second, Czarapata third, Lacrosse fourth and Troy Jerovetz fifth. After the caution at the half way point, Mullen would keep his commanding lead with Lacrosse stealing the second spot away from Whitman. Mullen would work his way through lapped traffic with Lacrosse giving chase. With 7 laps to go, Mullen would go out of the race with a mechanical problem which would give the lead to Lacrosse. LaCrosse went on to pick up the $10,000 pay day at the Clash at the Creek V.
In the Badger Stock Cars it was “The Wild Child” Tyler Smith of Luxemburg battling for the lead with Forest Junction’s Matt Vetting as Smith took the top spot on lap 14 and captured the 25 lap Clash at the Creek feature. BST point leader Rod Snellenberger of Pulaski started on the pole but suffered mechanical issues on the opening lap dropping him to last. Dave Degrave of Luxemburg led early taking on Vetting. In the end was DeGrave wrestling away the runner up position. Vetting fell to third in the closing laps. Hortonville’s Justin Jacobson worked his way up to from the 12 position in the early part of the race and stayed up front in that spot until the checkered flag. Luke Lemmens of Kewaunee was tangled up in the early part of the race but worked his way back to the front after the re start finishing fifth. Lemmens started in the 19th position and gained 14 positions and was the winner of the Hard Charger Award from MacDonald Auto Electric.
A total of 97 cars checked in to do battle that included 57 Modifies and 40 Stock Cars.
Racing is set to resume Saturday night, July 27. The six division program gets underway at 6 p.m.
