FALMOUTH, Maine – Bobby Timmons III of Windham, Maine, heads to the marquee event of the season with the running of the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Pro Series 100 at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in Scarborough, Maine, on Saturday, June 29. Timmons and the Mulkern Racing No. 48 Southern Maine Chrysler Dodge Jeep/Timmons Machine Dodge posted a season-high finish of second in the track’s 50-lap Pro Series feature last weekend. Through the first four races of 2013, Timmons sits fifth in the point standings, only 13 points out of the lead, and he hopes that back-to-back podium finishes will provide the momentum needed to win the biggest race of the season for Beech Ridge’s top weekly division.

DID YOU KNOW?

Bobby Timmons scored his first career Super Late Model win in a 40-lap NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Pro Series feature event at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in July of 2012.

Bobby Timmons has competed in three PASS North Series races – two at Oxford Plains Speedway and one at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway – since the end of the 2012 weekly season at Beech Ridge and has one Top-5, two Top-10s and three Top-12 finishes in those events.

Bobby Timmons and his father, Bobby Timmons Jr., have spent part of the offseason building a small-block Supermodified. Timmons Jr. raced Supermodifieds during his driving career. Timmons also competes in a go-kart on a dirt track in Saco, Maine, during the summer months.

Bobby Timmons spends his off weekends during the summer working on the crew for Scott Mulkern both during PASS race events and at other Super Late Model events around the country.

WHAT THEY ARE SAYING

BOBBY TIMMONS III, Driver of the Mulkern Racing No. 48 Timmons Machine/Southern Maine Chrysler Dodge Jeep Dodge, On his outlook for the Pro Series 100 this weekend at Beech Ridge: “We’re pretty confident. We had a good car last year for this race, but we crashed out before halfway. If we make it the end this time around, we’ll have something for them. The car’s been very consistent so far this season.

“We were pretty good last weekend, but we just didn’t have enough to get it done. We just didn’t have it on the restarts. I got killed on a couple of those, but the car has had good speed all season. We haven’t really had to do a lot to it besides just show up and bolt on tires, so I don’t see why this weekend would be much different.”

On whether the 100-lap distance will be a challenge for his car: “I think it’s going to help us, actually. Some guys have a more aggressive setup or a more aggressive driving style, and come Lap 60, 70, 80, they might start falling off. I don’t think we’ll fall off as much. At the same time, we won’t be as fast as those other guys early on, but we’ll be consistent. Even in the PASS races we’ve run this year, our car’s been the same good or the same bad from beginning to end for those 150 laps.

“I’m really thinking it’s going to be good at the end. For us, it’s all about finishing. Like they always say, to finish first, you’ve first got to finish.”

On whether he approaches this as a ‘big’ race or another weekly race: “Honestly, it’s a little bit of both. Obviously, I want to win every time I go out there. I want to get a Top-3 – heck, the trophies are cooler. But it’s the 100-lapper, and it’s big for us.

“I grew up watching Bub Bilodeau, Bobby Babb, all of those guys win this race. I’d like to add my name to the list of winners. It’s our highest profile race of the season, and to win it would be pretty cool.”
