On 8/11/13 at 3:56am the Mount Pleasant Police responded to the Knight’s Inn Motel located at 1149 Oakes Road for a report of a male subject that had forced a female into a white Lincoln and then left the area. Officers saw the vehicle eastbound on Washington Ave near Village Center Drive and initiated a traffic stop. As officers were approaching the car it sped off and led officers on a pursuit reaching speeds of 100 mph. The pursuit was terminated southbound on Sheridan Road/STH 32 in Kenosha where the White Lincoln was last seen.
The suspect is described as a light skinned male black in his early 20’s, 5’6” to 5’9” tall, 150-170lbs wearing blue jeans, a blue shirt, and white baseball hat.
UPDATE
Mt. Pleasant Police Investigators were able to make positive identification of the suspect driver. His name is JONATHAN C HARRIS 24 years old, from Kenosha. He is currently on parole through the Wisconsin Dept. of Corrections. A warrant has been issued for his arrest.
It was reported that HARRIS physically assaulted and removed a female acquaintance of his from a motel room at the Knights Inn, against her will on 8-11-2013. She was identified as JENNIFER E. SMITH 26 years old. Then HARRIS placed SMITH into his car and left the motel. The Mt. Pleasant police located the occupied vehicle shortly after that traveling on STH 20 in Mt. Pleasant.
After the vehicle was stopped, SMITH attempted to exit apparently to get away from HARRIS. HARRIS pulled her back inside and quickly spead off in his vehicle while an officer was holding onto SMITH’S arm. Officers then pursued the vehicle into Kenosha County before the pursuit was ended and the suspect vehicle and both occupants got away.
Later that morning, with the help of the Kenosha Police Department, the suspect vehicle was located in the city of Kenosha. However, neither HARRIS nor SMITH was located by police at that time.
Investigators recently received information that SMITH has been spotted in the city of Kenosha since this incident took place. It is believed that SMITH has blonde hair with pink streaks and is somewhere in Kenosha County.
Investigators are asking for the public’s help in locating SMITH so we can check on her welfare. If JONATHAN HARRIS is located please contact your local police department or call 911.
