(Foothill Ranch, Calif.,) – For automotive and racing aficionados around the world there is no more iconic celebration of speed and beauty than next week’s Monterey Historics event. Encompassing high-end auctions, vintage motorsports at Mazda Laguna Seca raceway and the legendary Pebble Beach Concours D’ Elegance, the Historics the world-class mecca for collectors, enthusiasts, media and all manner of automotive industry VIPs.

Now, thanks to a special invitation from organizers of the first annual “World Class Automotive Film and Arts Festival,” the newly-released trailer for the Baja Social Club will make its theatrical debut as part of the Monterey Historics weekend. The festival, the first of its kind, will be taking place August 15 -17, 2013 at Monterey’s iconic Golden State Theater. This three-day exhibition will be highlighted by a packed schedule of full- and short-length films, documentaries and webisodes, “chronicling significant milestones in automotive history, and the lifestyle that accompanies it.”

Almost three years in the making and supported by General Tire, Oakley and the National Off Road Racing Association (NORRA), Baja Social Club stars motorcycle legend Malcolm Smith, off-road legend Walker Evans, dune buggy inventor Bruce Meyers and inaugural NORRA Mexican 1000 winner Vic Wilson. The 60-minute documentary film is being directed by James Masters and was created by Executive Producer Marty Fiolka.

Thanks to newly uncovered Hollywood-quality film not seen since 1968, the four-minute Baja Social Club trailer includes appearances by an incredible “who’s who” of motorsports names including James Garner, Mickey Thompson, Parnelli Jones, Bob Bondurant, Scooter Patrick and even Dave Despain. Also included are off-road icons Robby Gordon, Rod Hall, Johnny Johnson, Larry Minor, Larry Bergquist, Lynn Chenowth and Andy DeVercelly Jr.

The Baja Social Club trailer will precede some of the best of Hollywood’s motorsports film projects, culminating Saturday evening before a special screening of Steve McQueen’s masterpieceLeMans. While famous for his sports car and motorcycle racing history, McQueen also competed in such famous off-road races as the NORRA Mexican 1000 and Mint 400 in Las Vegas.

“For the film festival organizers to bring our historic Baja story to the Monterey Historics is a huge honor for which we are very thankful, “explained Baja Social Club Executive Producer Marty Fiolka. “Our objective from the onset was making a timeless film that would remain true to desert racing’s clearly organic roots, but also inform and entertain a broader audience. This opportunity is an unexpected validation of the Baja Social Club’s potential to do just that.”

When it opening in April 1926, the Golden State was the largest theater
between San Francisco and Los Angeles.
