Bill, Grace and I enjoyed a week's visit to Virginia.
Our first stop was to Chincoteague.
Chincoteague Island, Virginia’s only resort island, is perhaps
the most beautiful island on Virginia’s Eastern Shore.
World famous for its oyster beds and clam shoals, Chincoteague
is the gateway to the Assateague Island National Seashore
and the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge.
Legend has it that the feral ponies on Assateague are descendants of survivors of a Spanish galleon that sank on its way to Spain during a storm in 1750 off the east coast.
We so enjoyed being on the water & relaxing on the beach while watching
dolphins at play, the seagulls dancing on a gust of wind and the wild ponies
grazing just a few feet away.

In Chincoteague we stayed at the lovey Channel Bass Inn.
Not only is it a beautiful home with delicious breakfasts and afternoon
teas but the owners are delightful! We adore Miss Barbara!
We shared our stay with such delightful people and there was
always interesting conversation and laughter!
Then it was on to Charlottesville! There we stayed at The Inn at
Sugar Hollow Farm.
Stunning surroundings and such pretty accommodations.
Tasty and hearty breakfasts with our fellow vacationers leads to
new friendships!
Bill, Daniel and I had visited many of the areas historical
spots while being stationed in Virginia but this was
Grace's first trip here.

Not only is Grace my *built in* model but she is becoming
quite a talented photographer!
Montpelier, the home of President James Madison
The wineries in the Charlottesville area are beautiful. We enjoyed
wine tasting and touring these not to be missed spots.
It was a relaxing, educational, fun and memory making
week!
