Get out those red, white and blue dancing shoes! South Street Headhouse District, with Society Hill Dance Academy, celebrates National Dance Day on Friday, July 29, 2916 with a Post-DNC Dance Party Under the Shambles.
The BlackBird Society Orchestra will have everyone swinging with familiar tunes from the early jazz age! After a week of all politics, this will be the perfect time to head to one of America’s most famous streets and let loose! Democrat? Republican? Independent? It doesn’t matter when you dance your way into the fall election season!
The Post-DNC Dance Party Under the Shambles will be held under the historic Headhouse Shambles at 2nd and Pine. The event is free and open to the public – all ages welcome, including children too. Rain or shine. The festivities will begin at 7pm and run until 10pm.
Libations and delicacies will be available for purchase from local restaurants to satiate the thirst and appetite guests might work up dancing the night away.
Grab some friends, bring a date, or like Elvis says, “if you can’t find a partner, use a wooden chair!” but definitively come down to South Street celebrate a summer Friday night out on the town.
Though the event is free, SSHD will be collecting donations for area charities, including Project Home and the Philadelphia Dance Foundation.
