Batman has resonated with fans for more than half a century now. While other superheroes have seen their day in the sun for short whiles, Batman is one of the few comic characters that has resonated enough with fans that has resulted in his popularity never wavering. Batman is relatable to fans because he is a normal man, with no super powers to boast about like Superman or The Flash. His alter ego Bruce Wayne is also a character that is a spectacle to watch. Who would not want to be a billionaire who becomes a masked vigilante during his spare time?

Batman may be a normal man but he does have some extraordinary qualities that are admirable, one of them being his resilient ability to take on his fighting opponents. The hero is known for his quick thinking in fights, but his past training with The League Of Shadows may be the reason for his fighting style. According to the comics, Batman is familiar with every with every single martial arts in existence, so you know the guy is no joke to mess around with.He has mastered 127 styles of martial arts including Muay Thai, Escrima, Krav Maga, Capoeira, Savate, Yawyan, Taekwondo, Judo, Jujitsu, Ninjitsu, Kendo, Fencing, Kenjitsu, Kali, Bojutsu, Francombat, Boxing, Kickboxing, Hapkido, Wing Chun, Parkour, Shorin Ryu, Silat, Chin Na, Hokuto Shinken, Kyudo, Aikido, Varma Adi, Jeet Kune Do, Shaolin, Ba Gua, Hung Gar, Tai Chi, Kung Fu, Kenpo, and Karate.”

The Youtuber  Godzillarex broke down a fight scene from Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Existence and tallied how many styles the Caped Crusader used to fight a bunch of hoodlums. By looking over every martial arts maneuver used by Batman, Godzillarex is able to determine just how many fighting styles Batman has mastered( in the DCEU anyway).

The Youtuber tallied up the number and concluded that Batman used no less than ten fighting styles for the warehouse scene alone. The list of styles includes: the strong punches of boxing, the open hand strikes of karate, the knee and elbow strikes of Muay Thai, the kicks of tae kwon do and savate, the brutal disarms and headbutts of krav maga, the stealth and throwing weapon skills of ninjutsu, the defensive skills of kung fu, and the throws of judo and aikido. Now that we know what Batman’s capabilities are, we can understand why so many criminals are so afraid of The Dark Knight. It was not just the costume, that’s for sure.
