We are getting a new furnace installed today. 
I had four different companies come out and give quotes – and I’m glad I did – the last one was the best overall price and package. With expensive home repairs it can be a hassle to coordinate with so many companies – but in the end we will SAVE nearly $2,100 – from the first quote we received – and for a better brand furnace (I researched via Consumer Reports). This is a substantial savings – and it didn’t require that much more effort from me, other than making a few phone calls and being available at the house for the appointments. Most companies will give you a FREE estimate. Make sure all companies are licensed/bonded, check online reviews and ensure they pull all the appropriate permits – so you’re above board with the county or city. Also, ask friends and family members for recommendations – we ended up going with this company because of the low bid, high-quality product AND a recommendation from a friend! Oh. . .and one more thing – don’t be afraid to negotiate! You’re in the driver’s seat. Ask point blank – Would you consider a 10% discount? – it’s worked for me in the past! It’s as simple as asking.

Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb [Blu-ray] was released yesterday! Amazon has it for $19.99 (reg. $39.99) – we had a family movie night and watched it via Amazon Instant Video. Such a cute movie. I made a big batch of stovetop popcorn and we cuddled up to watch it.
