Good morning! Happy Friday! How is your week going? This weather has been gorgeous. We grilled for dinner last night and just one more week of school for us before summer starts. I found a few ripe strawberries on my plants last night! And while I wasn’t watching, the chickens found them, too!
And although I would have preferred they didn’t eat the first fruits of the season, it was really comical watching them chase each other over the berries. You see Princess had it first (the beautiful orange chicken in the photo). But then the big bully Amelia came in and got it. And then Princess got it back and finally it ended up in the mouth of a tiny Barred Rock. This summer I moved my strawberries to planters on the deck – thinking the chickens wouldn’t notice. I was so wrong! Now I’ll have to keep my eyes on those girls or they’ll eat every red strawberry they can find.
