Good morning! Monday. Monday. Monday. I know a lot of you might have kids starting school this week – is it the first day of school for you today? Our schools don’t start until next week. These last few days of summer will be busy with dentist and doctor appointments for the kids, carpet cleaning, school open house, and more.
We had a fun weekend. Last Friday I went to my first ever Seahawks game (first professional football game). I had to be in Seattle for an ABC television news segment on back-to-school deals and we found an amazing deal on the Seahawks tickets through Ticketmaster, so we made a night of it! This picture is the first (and not the last) touchdown of the night. So exciting. 
I’ve wanted to go for a very long time. We got the tickets through ticket exchange on Ticketmaster – which I think is where season ticket holders can sell their tickets – so from what I can tell we paid only a fraction of the face value.
And speaking of back-to-school deals, yesterday we published the latest list of school supply deals at our local stores. There are still some fantastic deals to be had in terms of school supplies.
And speaking of fantastic deals. . .Sunday morning I couldn’t help but head to Goodwill for the newest sale. This week my local stores has denim buy one, get one FREE. I found a pair of jeans for EACH person in the family for $13.49 out of pocket – that’s just $3.37 a pair. They all look and feel brand new and I scored high quality brands – GAP, Lands’ End, Abercrombie and Lee Dungaree. If you’re local, the BOGO sale runs all week and is all Goodwill stores in the Olympic and Rainier region (see their Facebook page here). Did you find any secondhand deals this weekend? We had our neighbors over for dinner last night. We grilled salmon that my mom caught this summer up in Alaska and I made this Israeli couscous tabbouleh salad. It went great with the fish – and I added chopped salad greens, plus a diced red and orange pepper. It was the first time I’d cooked Israeli couscous – it was something I had picked up at Trader Joe’s – the salad was so easy and so delicious I might just have to eat it for breakfast today. If you make it – don’t leave the mint out, I think that made the whole salad come together.
Whew! That was a sneak of our weekend. How was your weekend? What did you do?
