Good morning! Yesterday I went grocery shopping at QFC and I was so thrilled to find a bunch of manager markdowns! Nearly everything in my cart was 50 – 70% off thanks to being on quick sale. Salad mixes, yogurts, produce, organic milk and even local NW italian sausage all great deals, without the use of any coupons! My local QFC is pretty generous about their markdowns, with at least a few days before the sell by or expiration date – and with the meat it can be frozen right away and thawed when ready to use.
Last night for dinner I took the marked down sausages, mushrooms and canned tomatoes from my QFC trip and made this one-pot pasta dish from Budget Bytes. I changed the recipe around – putting in four sausages, 14 ounces of mushrooms, two cans of diced tomatoes with onions/garlic, three cloves of garlic and I used penne pasta. I also added a tbsp of dried parsley and a tbsp of dried oregano. Topped with fresh parmesan. It was delicious and I love how inexpensively it came together thanks to the manager markdowns! We have lots of leftovers for today.
Yesterday afternoon I stopped by Goodwill and found 48 books for around $12. A quarter each! Crazy. This is part of a 50% off books and media sale that my local Goodwill branch is having for back-to-school. My purchase even included Brain Quest cards (my kids love these) and unused school workbooks for Geography and Letters/Sounds – perfect for both my kiddos. My son was thrilled to see I found Pokemon novels, which are nearly impossible to find in our local library system. We spent most of yesterday reading and I always love finding good deals on books like this. This 50% off books/media sale goes until Saturday August 16 and is just the Tacoma stores.
