This post is written by Kerri, our QFC, WinCo and Rite Aid guru. She shopped the Value Village President’s Day sale and found lots of deals!

Yesterday my daughters and I took advantage of the Value Village 50% off sale as well as a special promotion our local Goodwill was having where blue tag items were just $0.99 and green and pink tags were 40% off. Combining already-low thrift store prices with these types of sales and promotions can really pay off! Here’s what we got:

Blue sweater (Mossimo for Target) – $0.99 with tags still on (I bought this same sweater but in orange for over $20 at Target just two months ago… Darn!)

Canada mittens – $0.99 with tags still on (I saw these same mittens this summer when I was in Canada. My daughters really wanted them but I couldn’t justify the $15 price tag. So glad I didn’t buy them then!)

Boys blue polo shirt (Faded Glory) – $0.99

Green skirt (Luella for Target) – $1.50

Blue and white polka dot skirt (Forever 21) – $2

Grey sweatshirt (American Eagle ) – $2

Red sweatshirt (Pink by Victoria Secret) – $2

Cream sweatshirt (American Eagle) – $2

Brown booties (Target) – $4 with tags still on

Blue & white checked men’s shirt (Abercrombie & Fitch) – $5

The most exciting part of the shopping trip was when we went to Goodwill and my 15-year old daughter found a pair of Frye cowboy boots – in her size – for just $10. Even better, the boots had a pink tag on them so she got them for just $6! I can’t tell you how long she’s wanted Frye boots so she was super excited. When I did a quick online search most Frye boots that were similar-looking to these were running around $275. The toes were a little scuffed when we bought them but they polished up great.

As my daughters have become teenagers their interest in clothing has really increased. Unfortunately, the price of the clothing they like has really increased, too! Shopping thrift stores has been a way to get clothes for them from the stores they like at a fraction of the cost of new. We don’t buy all their clothes there – I haven’t had as much luck with jeans and most shoes – but it’s been a fantastic way for us save on many of their clothes.

What about you? Did you thrift store shop yesterday? We’d love to hear any great deals you scored!
