Doha 15th December 2013: We’re only a three days away from Qatar National Day 2013. The country is all set to celebrate it.

Katara Cultural Village

On the occasion of the Qatar National Day celebrations, the Cultural Village Foundation (Katara)  invites people to join the festivities and enjoy the happenings in Katara from the 18th – 19th of December 2013, featuring 20 events inspired from our heritage to recognize our present and explore horizons of our future.

The National Parade

A national day parade will be held on December 18 from 8 am to 8.50 am. About 14,000 seats have been placed at designated locations along the corniche.

 Fireworks at the Corniche

 Fireworks at the Corniche on Qatar National Day start at 8 pm.

 Qatar Orchestra Music Show

A live orchestra will be performed at the Corniche on December 18 from 9.30pm to 10.15pm, with music inspired by the country’s heritage.

 Darb Al Saai Camp

It features traditional and cultural activities that promote Qatar’s heritage. Darb Al Saai is now open for the public use, well before December 18.

 Souq Waqif

The streets and shops in Souq Waqif have been decorated with Qatari flags and photos of HH The Emir and HE The Father Emir. Traditional dance and performances will be held in the souq. You can also enjoy relaxing in various restaurants rooftops. You can book a table at Al Matbakh Rooftop Grill at Arumaila for lively music and spectacular views over the Corniche and city skyline.

 One Love Campaign

In line with this theme of this year’s national day ‘One Love,’ various cultural and entertainment programmes have been planned for the 18th December at Westend Park, Al-Wakrah Stadium, Al-Rayyan Stadium and Al-Khor Stadium.

West End Cricket Stadium: will feature a cricket match between Indian, Pakistani, Sri Lankan and Bangladesh community teams managed by Lagan Cricket Club on December 18, 2013.

Al Wakrah Stadium: Pakistani and Bangladesh communities will perform cultural shows, thematic dances, songs, comedy show and more. Pakistan Education Centre, Bangladesh MHM School, Bhavans Indian School and DPS-MIS will compete with parade, songs, dances and thematic shows. Football and basketball matches will be held between community teams as well as racing competition for school children and public.

 Al Rayyan Indoor Stadium: Performances by Filipino, Malaysian and Indonesian communities as well as competitions between Philippines School – Doha, Philippines International School- Qatar, Scholars International School and Doha Modern Indian School will be held at the Al Rayyan Indoor Stadium.  Football and basketball matches will be held as part of the sports activities at the venue.

Al Khor Sports Stadium: It will include performances by the Nepalese expats and Al Khor community. Birla Public School, Ideal Indian School and Shanti Niketan Indian School will compete with each other in parades, songs, dances and thematic shows.

 Exhibition of old cars

There will be an exhibition of old cars that were used for hunting in the past in the Al Maqtar Zone from 8am-12pm and 3.30pm-10pm on the national day.

Flag of Gratitude & Loyality

The State of Qatar will present the ‘Flag of Gratitude & Loyality’ to Guinness Book of Records the largest flag in the world on December 16. Aiming to highlight the deep unity and brotherhood among our loyal people and wise leadership, and to display the humanitarian and patriotism senses in this campaign, as the project seeks also to convey the message of loyalty to His Highness Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani and tribute to His Highness Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa al-Thani for their great efforts and sincere dedication witnessed by the whole world and seen on ground by citizens and residents.

QMA calling all artist

Qatar Museums Authority  invite all the artist both Qatari and residents of the State of Qatar, including professionals and amateurs to participate in the National Day celebration related to the cultural sector, at the Museum of Islamic Art Park, on Tuesday 17 December 2013, from 8:30 am to 1:00 pm. To participate in the event, RSVP to dhammam@qma.org.qa or call 55287002 no later than December 15.

La Veranda Restaurant

La Veranda will be offering two buffets presenting on one hand the best of Mediterranean/Italian cuisine and on the other Oriental specialties. Grill station with fresh fish and meat. Live pasta cooking station. Price includes soft drinks, water, juices tea and coffee. There will be for children. Bouncy Castle, Face painting and Balloon twisting. Ladies will wear traditional Arabian dress, men wearing Arabic outfit. The decoration will include Qatar flags in the entrance, purple flowers on the tables. Live entertainment by pianist and DJ performing mix of Arabic and European tunes. Price: Adult – QR290. Children aged 6-12 – QR145.

 Aramede Restaurant, Crowne Plaza Doha – The Business Park

 Celebrate the Qatari National Day at Aramede with a traditional Qatari buffet along with traditional Arabic pipe music.150QR per adult, 75QR per child (6-12 years) including juices, local mineral water and soft drinks. Children under 6 years dine free of charge. Wednesday, 18th of December at 12:30-4pm.

Sheraton Pool Bar Area

Sheraton Pool Bar Area will be serving Charcoal grill with selection of meat and fish and easy-to-eat side dish buffet including fresh salads. Softdrink, water and juice bar serving signature refreshing fruit concoctions. Price: Adult – QR190. Children aged 6-12 – QR90.

Grand Hyatt Hotel

Grand Hyatt Doha will be offering a 50% discount at all the restaurants for food and soft beverages on December 18. A buffet will be served at The Grill exclusively for qar250 including soft beverages throughout the entire day.

 InterContinental Doha

It will be offering special cake and Arabic coffee to mark Qatar National Day. Following this, a special Qatari traditional buffet will take place at Coral Restaurant. Time: 2:30 pm – 3:30 pmPrice: QR175 per person

Al Shaheen Restaurant / Al Ghazaal Room

International and Oriental Buffet- Adult: QR 280.00 / person-Children aged 6-12: QR 140.00 / child- Offering Selection of International dishes and Oriental specialties with live pasta station and saj bread. Price includes soft drinks, water, juices tea and coffee. Ladies wear traditional Arabian dress men regular Arabic shirt and black trousers. For Children, there will be cotton Candy Station, Clown, Face painting and Balloon twisting.
