Southampton star Sofiane Boufal and Juventus defender Mehdi Benatia have both been named in Morocco’s Africa Cup of Nations squad.

Coach Herve Renard has named a 23-man squad for the tournament in Gabon, which gets underway on January 14.

Joining well-known names Benatia and Boufal in the squad are Monaco’s Nabil Dirar and Watford’s Nordin Amrabat but midfielder Younes Belhanda, who is on loan at French club Nice from Dynamo Kiev, has not been included as he has a toe injury.

Olympiakos defender Manuel Da Costa is also included and there’s experience elsewhere with Feyenoord’s Karim El Ahmadi named in the 23-man list alongside St Pauli star Aziz Bouhaddouz.

Morocco are in Group C for the tournament and play DR Congo on January 16 in Oyem before also facing Togo and the Ivory Coast.
