Sheikh Mohammed, who is also the Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates, thanked the nine retired officials for their service.

TheĀ  Emir of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum, has reportedly sacked nine government officials for vacating their seats during office hours.

Rashid al-Maktoum was said to have conducted an unannounced inspection of some government offices and found out that some top employees were absent.

Those sacked included directors and assistant director-generals in the legal affairs and planning departments of the Dubai Municipality's executive management.

Report said Sheikh Mohammed, who is also the Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates, thanked the nine retired officials for their service but said he wanted to allow a new generation of young leaders to take control and provide top-quality services to the public.
